About Hydration Packs
Proper hydration is critical during any activity from walking to running, hiking, or cycling. While water bottles are a great way to take water with you on the go, a more convenient and hands-free way to stay hydrated is to carry a hydration pack.Hydration packs incorporate a special rubber reservoir (or bladder) that holds liquid and keeps it cool - often cooler than a bottle. Most hydration backpacks include hoses to drink from, which is a handy feature when you don't want to stop and fumble for your water bottle. Some packs even include extra room for storage of a few essentials.
Medium packs tend to hold 50-70 ounces of water and are ideal for moderate activity such as recreational biking or walking. For high energy activities like hiking or mountain biking, look for packs with reservoirs that hold 100 ounces. For you winter sports enthusiasts, there are also winter hydration packs from brands like CamelBak that are designed to keep water from freezing in cold temperatures. Finally, for trail runners, joggers, and racers, look for hydration waistpacks that hold one or two bottles and are designed to stay out of the way.
