About Daypacks
Daypacks are smaller to mid-sized backpacks that are designed for short day hikes, school, or trips around town. Notable brands include The North Face, JanSport, High Sierra, OGIO, Osprey, and more.
Daypacks are the most popular of all backpacks, due to their versatility. Most have ample pockets for a day's worth of clothing and accessories, plus water bottle holders and/or sleeves to hold hydration reservoirs. Many packs have additional pockets for iPod or MP3 players, and some have built-in laptop sleeves. Almost all have internal organizer panels that will enable you to secure pens, cards, keys and cell phones.
Smaller volume daypacks (1,800 cubic inches to 2,000 cubic inches) will generally hold a good amount of books or gear, plus a small amount of clothing or accessories. Larger volume daypacks (2,000 to 2,500 cubic inches) will hold even more.
