About Luggage Totes & SatchelsLuggage totes are designed to make carrying on easier and more convenient. The two basic styles are the classic tote bag or travel satchel worn over the shoulder and the rolling tote (or luggage tote) that can be wheeled behind you or carried by top carry handles.
Classic travel tote bags are rectangular in shape, have long straps to be worn over one shoulder, and easily lie flat against the body. Travel satchels are also rectangular in shape but tend to have shorter top carry handles and/or a long strap similar to a duffel bag. Just like handbag totes and satchels, the shape of these travel bags makes them ideal for carrying laptops, magazines, folders, and books as well as other smaller items such as sunglasses, wallets, and keys. Unlike handbags, however, they offer more space to carry larger items. Travel tote bags and satchels have become increasingly popular as they can be used in place of a handbag as a second carry-on item since many fit under airplane seats.
Rolling travel totes or luggage totes are also growing in popularity particularly as carry on restrictions and fees increase. This is because many rolling totes are sized to fit underneath airplane seats. Generally they are between 16" and 18" and are often referred to as under seat luggage. However, regardless if you choose to use them as your only luggage or you want a supplemental bag along with your checked baggage, wheeled travel totes are a great option for navigating airports, security, and airplane aisles. They can fit about the same amount of items as a backpack but unlike backpacks, duffels, or shoulder bags, they can be wheeled, eliminating stress on our shoulders, neck, and back.
