"I use this bag primarily for business travel, but regardless when I am using it I get a lot of compliments about how nice it looks. It is a nice size to be able to take essentials and not much more, which for an overpacker like me, is GREAT!
I have used it for as long as four days of business travel in which I needed casual clothes, too, and it worked fine. The compartments get really small if Im carrying more than one pair of shoes (size 10 mens).
I use Eagle Creek organizers, and they fit nicely in the bag, and I love the small mesh pocket under the top flap of the bag (perfect for cables, chargers, etc etc and the pocket on the top (when rolling), which offers quick access for toiletries, a big plus going through security.
For business, I always have to travel with at least one suit, and my suit bag fits perfectly in the large main compartment, so on weekend trips I can usually get away with packing a suit or two in the main compartment and squeezing everything else in the smaller secondary compartment and my carryon messenger bag.
The Mother Lode turned me from a check two bags and bring a carry-on kind of traveler to much more of a minimalist, not checking anything, and its DEFINITELY the way to travel. I think this bag is well-made and I expect to get a lot of use out of it over the next few years." |

"This is easily the best bit of luggage Ive ever owned. It was my first expensive bag and was the most-used bag Ive ever owned. It was both a single carry-on for short weekend trips as well as a secondary bag for longer trips. The wheels were fantastic, never once did I struggle like so many other travelers with a tippy bag or finicky wheels or handles. Jaws would drop as people watched me unpack a ridiculous amount of things from this seemingly tiny bag. It was my little clown-car suitcase.
My mother also borrowed this from me all the time for weekend getaways and shed manage to cram clothes for her AND dad. Heck, she even took it as her only luggage for a 2-week stay with family (we do pack light).
I loved this bag until some jerk in a Vegas hotel stole it in the middle of the lobby and wouldnt return hotel securitys calls. I guess that thief thought the bag was pretty awesome too. I cried at the loss of the bag - not the contents.
Will DEFINITELY purchase this again when I have some money, along with other Mother Lode products." |

"I like the packability and appearance of the bag. The little shelf thing is not of any use, however, because I have big feet and the shoes take up too much space. So far it has fit in overheads straight in, but I think on some planes it might be a bit too long for that. I like having the ability to pack some things in the top and take them out without opening the bag. The handle is just the right length for me, but it is too long for my wife. I like pairing it up with the brief case companion. It is also nice to have the clam shell arrangement with half on one side and half on the other - you dont have to dig through one layer to get to the next." |

"I love this bag. So much so that we bought a second one after using the first one for a few months. It allows for excellent organization of your stuff. I like the small pocket at the top for the quart size bag of toiletries for the airport. If I bring my laptop I can put it in the upper half compartment and its pretty easy to get out of the bag for security. I like the orange inside as its very easy to find all my of little black chargers, cords, batteries etc. I like that its very light weight and Im always amazed as how much I can actually stuff into it." |
