About Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Susan G. Komen for the Cure is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. In addition to funding research, the Foundation supports education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world and delivers the life-saving message of early detection to millions of women and men. For more information, visit the Foundation's Web site at www.komen.org or call 1.800 I'M AWARE®.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure recommends that women follow a positive breast health regimen that includes:
1) A monthly breast self-examination beginning by the age of 20.
2) A clinical breast examination by a trained health professional at least every three years starting at age 20 and annually after age 40.
3) Starting at age 40, women should get a mammogram every year. Women under age 40 with a family history, other risk factors or reasons for concern should consult a trained medical professional about when to have a mammogram.
