"Overall: I was considering 2 different Timbuck2 backpacks before I discovered these from Dakine. I originally looked at the Dakine Element and then I found the 101 pack and fell in love. The Dakine packs just have a much more polished look when you compare them. I watched several videos about the pack and looked at all the pictures from the listing. Things to note: The current Dakine 101 pack has the tablet sleeve as pictured above. I chose the "black stripe" color and it has the exact appearance I was looking for. It reminds me of a pin stripe suit, very nice for something that's business professional but not just another black bag. Positives: 1) laptop sleeve: It has a corner zip sleeve between the backpack straps and the handle for your laptop. I wanted a laptop specific compartment for protection and to help move through TSA a little faster. 2) size: I am 6ft and found this back pack the perfect size for me. The bag sits on my back and not on the top of my butt. Don't mistake this, the bag is not small at all. The main compartment could hold my hoodie and a change of gym clothes along with my laptop, charger and tablet easily. 3) pockets and organization: It has a padded lined tablet sleeve that I think is great. It's a little oversized so I think it could accomodate a number of sizes. Plus tons of organization pockets including one on the panel behind your back. Great for stuff you need to keep secure like ID, boarding pass etc. Negatives: 1) This is really a tiny one. The lining in the pack has a felted texture that seems to trap pet hair and never let it go. If you have a dog or cat that sheds you will understand my pain. 2) The zippers jingle a LOT! lol people will hear you coming. Other than that... this bag is perfect!"

"I purchased the Herringborne backpack and wasn't expecting to get an all-gray backpack, but it still looks really nice. The pattern fooled me into thinking it was black and white, but it is really just how the light hits it. Overall, it's a really nice looking and well built bag. Comes with several compartments that are lined and have sturdy zippers. I love how the laptop compartment zips on the side and it fits my 15.6 inch laptop perfectly, with just enough room for a laptop sleeve. I read the reviews before buying this item and decided to get a waterproof laptop sleeve just in case, although the backpack itself seems very durable. Overall I am happy with this purchase and feel that it is a well made backpack that was worth the money. When wearing the pack with my laptop inside, I can barely tell I'm carrying any weight at all! I will definitely consider returning to Dakine for my future needs."

"It is a great bag! Has plenty of space for everything. It may seem like it would be heavy with books and laptops but once you put it on the padding on the shoulders and back makes you forget that you are even wearing it!"

"I've had two Dakine Terminal bags that I absolutely loved, but both of their main zippers broke. I overloaded them with books and all my tech gear, clothes, and the kitchen sink too. Most of my books are now on my iPad and I decided to size down to the 101. So far I love it. Has a place for everything. I also bought the matching travel toiletry bag that is awesome as well. Purchase from eBags; they have the best prices and they're quick with their delivery!"

"This backpack still looks like new after a semester of use at college in the Midwest. My previous Dakine bag (30L Element Pack) lasted two years of high school and two years of college until I had to replace it because the main zipper started coming apart, so I can definitely testify as to the durability of these bags. If you are looking for a backpack to last you all of high school or all of college, then the Dakine packs are for you. Positives: 1) separate laptop compartment makes it easy to get laptop in and out, especially at airport security 2) large main compartment fits plenty of books 3) useful organizer for 4 pens/pencils, small calc, etc. 4) iPad sleeve Negatives: 1) no clip to hold a keyring 2) only holds 1 water bottle Take note: This bag is not very waterproof! It will protect your things in a light drizzle for a few minutes, but I don't trust it to keep my laptop and books dry when I have to walk more than 5 minutes to class in a decent rain."

"I just received this backpack today. It is amazing! It has tons of pockets and the pocket on the side will hold any of my 16-20 oz. travel mugs. It fits my 15.6 widescreen laptop perfectly (I have a Dell Pavilion dv6t that measures 15 x 10 x 1.5). So far, in addition to my laptop, I can cram in it 2 huge textbooks, a binder, and few spiral notebooks and medium sized paperbacks. I am a law student and really wanted one bag that would fit everything--this definitely fits the bill. Plus, it looks great and is very comfortable."

"I bought this bag as a gift for my boyfriend who wanted a black backpack. He is extremely picky and wanted something very plain. This bag definitely is the perfect bag. It's simple but not boring. Great quality, the bag came in the mail incredibly quickly (which was surprising, especially since I ordered it a few days before Christmas), perfect backpack for organizing... perfect slot for laptop and separate well protected slot for iPad. Lots of room for organizing, and as always with Dakine, very comfortable when carrying on back."

"I bought this bag for my son to use in the school. It was recommended by a happy customer who have young kids and swore by Dakine products. Initially, I was concerned about the large size for a small kid, but my concern was over when I saw my son carrying it on his back with ease. It was very light for a big bag! The sternum strap on the chest added extra security so the hands can be free to do whatever he wants. There is a big compartment for his bulky lunch box. The boy's only carry few items for now but the bag will be even more useful as years go by. The many pockets are more convenient for ME when we travel on the weekends. Couple of the pockets are padded so my camera and phone are well taken cared of. The extra secrect pocket at the back is most useful for passports and tickets. The side opening for a laptop is most convenient! My son and I are sharing this bag now and when the boy is bigger, I will hand over this bag to the rightful owner. This is my first Dakine bag and I have recommended this exact same bag to a couple of people and they are now all happy with their purchases too. My next purchase will be the one with a cool pack comparment for food and cold drink."

"I've had mine for two years now. Very well made bag with excellent features. So much organization you will have trouble finding uses for all of the pockets. Some 15' laptops don't fit. The laptop compartment opens on the side of the bag, and not the top, so it does not run the full length of the bag. My hp does not fit in the compartment and I have to carry it in the main compartment instead, which is not well padded. When I bought the bag I had a 14' IBM laptop and it fit well."

"I had a Dakine backpack that was pretty much identical to this one, so I thought it would have all the same pockets and internal design. It doesn't. My old one had big heavy duty zippers, this one has thin flimsy ones. My old one had all kinds of little compartments inside the front pocket. This one has 5 or 6 less. The one cool thing that my old one didn't have is the zipper pocket on the side. But other than that, I wish it were the exact same as my old one."
