"I have been using Eagle Creek Packing envelopes for 8 years, and NEVER pack with out them! I bought these lighter weight ones as a hope to shave a little bit of weight off of my carry on bag. First off, the velcro closures are not substantial enough and in the wrong place to hold the envelope closed AND keep the contents of a week+ worth of clothes neat and tidy, without shifting around. (The closure on the regular envelopes are far better and secure!) Second, there is a fabric trim around the packing board, that gets hung up on the freshly folded clothes, when trying to remove it to fold the next garment! What a pain! Redesign these to be JUST LIKE the old ones, but lighter weight! Packing cubes and envelopes have revolutionized my packing and I would NOT be without them. EBAGS..why don't you make your own version?!"

"I used this packing folder recently on a trip to Cuba, where I needed to keep the luggage to a minimal weight. I thought the folder worked really well, and I didn't have any problems with the velcro that some people have mentioned. I've used the earlier version of the packing folder, and love the tidy way to pack, especially when going to several places on a trip. The new one is lighter, and I like the white fabric. I'm getting the smaller one, too, for T-shirts and small things."

"Although very lightweight, the folder is flimsy and doesn't hold its shape well when packed with shirts. The original material folders are better even though they weigh more. I will continue to use the "older" version as the clothes are more secure and never wrinkle."

"This really does help with packing. It's the folding that makes it work and the envelope keeps it together. It helped me pack for a 2 week international trip with only a carry-on. I would recommend to anyone trying to travel light."

"This packing folder is large so I don't use it as often for short-term travel. However, when packing for a two-week trip to Europe it is perfect for keeping shirts and slacks wrinkle-free. Who wants to iron clothes when on vacation!"

"Best investment in packing for travel that I have ever made to protect, to maintain and to reduce volume of clothing. You have to try it to believe it."

"Any of the Eagle Creek Specter products made out of the "parachute" material are fabulous. If you are a traveler, stop what you're doing right now and purchase this item. The Specter folder allows each item to be folded exactly as the next which allows for precise spacing and compressability. I was able to pack twelve tops in this one folder. By the time I strapped down each velcroed flap nice and tight, I was able to compress the stack of tops into a very small bundle. All the tops hung out beautifully. I could have packed a few more tops--I had that much room in this folder. And so lightweight! My husband, Mr.-all-your-new-Specter-items-are-okay until he actually saw them in use. He purchased a Specter folder for himself as well. LOVE IT!"

"Review for, Eagle Creek, Pack-It Specter Folder 18: Overall, this item is well constructed, and I believe that that it will be durable. The fabric is very light, as advertised, however, the plastic back and folding sheet are heavier than I anticipated (I suppose that the listed 8 oz weight did not fully register). I purchased this product hoping to save a little space/weight. It works reasonably well, but did not provide a significant reduction in space/weight for me. Please note that I have traveled weekly for more than 5 years and my packing style is already quite efficient. I (engineer) fit significantly more clothing into a smaller space than most people I have traveled with. One benefit of using the folder is protecting clothing from spills, abrasions, etc. The folding sheet does have a fabric edging, so it will not cut into clothes. As for reducing wrinkles, the folder did not provide any benefit for me, but as I stated previously, I have become quite adept at packing efficiently and keeping my clothes (primarily slacks and long sleeve button-ups) wrinkle free. If I could suggest any change, I would reduce the thickness/stiffness of the plastic parts and/or increase the number of holes in the folding sheet, simply to reduce the total weight, but this may not be possible while providing a lifetime warranty (as Eagle Creek does with this product). Overall, this is a good product, well built and thought out. For the average traveler, I imagine that it would provide a significant benefit."

"This is the third folding/packing envelope I've bought and by far the best. It weighs much less than the other ones and has a better Velcro closing system. Haven't put it to the test yet, but I'm really happy about how much lighter it is than other brands."
