"Being a webdeveloper who does a fair amount of telecommuting and travel to multiple offices, I need a bag that would not only safely carry my new Dell Inspiron e1707 (same chassis as the Inspiron 9400 with dimensions of 15.5"x11.3"x1.6"), but would also provide enough storage for the numerous reference manuals, mp3 player, thumb drives, etc. that I typically lug with me. Not only did this bag look like it had a ton of storage and protection, but it was in my price range and appealed to my visual style. I took a chance and ordered the red version last Friday. I had the backpack in my hands the following Tuesday (that Monday was President's Day). Talk about beyond my expectations! It took me about 20 minutes before I found all the different compartments! There are THAT many! The material is the most rugged I've seen since I was in the Army. It is extremely well constructed. The thought put into the design is incredible! The inner sleeve for the smaller notebooks wasn't needed in my case, so I promptly donated it to the nearest drooling co-worker of mine. The notebook bay has 3 padded inserts with velcro that allow you to customize the fit to your notebook. I had all three in and to my amazement, my notebook fit easily and snugly. I had no problems with the opening being too small. It was as if this bag was made for my notebook and my needs exactly! The separate section for books has ample amount of space to easily carry 2 1000 page reference manuals and then some. Fully loaded, the bag nicely distributed the weight and felt very comfortable. The shoulderstraps are well placed and well padded. One of my co-workers was sold on the bag in 5 minutes of looking at mine, that she came to eBags and ordered one for her! To say I'm pleased is an understatement! The transaction through was impeccable! Not only will I continue to do business here, but I am telling everyone who will listen about the offerings! Thank you eBags and keep up the great work!!"

"I selected this pack because it had the best combination of price/features and adequate size for my large laptop computer. For a 2-3 day trip with computer equip. it works OK. Since computer equip. is heavier than clothes, it really needs a belt or waist strap to make it comfortable for long wear. I couldn't quite fit all the clothes I needed for a 4 day vacation with a jacket and extra shoes, though. 2 inches greater depth would have been handy, since I travel with one bag only. Like most bags of this sort, I find that the greater number of pockets, the less actual usable packing space one has. However, the side pockets for water bottles are really handy."

"My laptop and 4 huge school books fit easily in this bag. The fact that it's rectangular makes it more roomy. Also, it's well padded on the back and shoulders. The stuff I have to carry is really heavy. The bag makes it bearable. It also looks really great. I really love it."

"I have had this bag for 5 years. Last year one zipper of the laptop compartment came off track and about a year later the other one finally did the same. That is the only problem I have had. The bag is EXTREMELY durable. I haul 17inch dell Inspiron around and my 14in work laptop. I carry on average 20-30lbs of stuff in it. No straps have ever failed or threading come loose I strap it to my motorcycle and ride to work with it and haul it in my car. It is extremely spacious. I usually Carry 2 laptops and 3 9x7x1 books along with mice and power supplies and other small electronics. This bag is totally worth the money. I have never got 5 years out of a bag without nearly destroying it.I will most likely replace it with the same model. Only reason I might not is because the color I had is not always available."

"I bought this backpack for myself. My daughter liked it so well, we bought another for her to take to college this fall. We don't yet know how they'll hold up over time, but they look and feel like they'll last forever. The bag fits comfortably and the straps are well padded. It's easy to get in and out of, and it fits snuggly without sticking way out behind. It's big enough to hold my Acer Aspire 1520 in the sleeve inside the laptop compartment. If you have a smaller computer like my daughter's Acer TravelMate 3200, and want to go overboard with security, the semi-rigid Trager Computer Transporter fits perfectly as a replacement for the soft sleeve that comes with the bag. However, you probably don't need it - the laptop compartment is better padded than any other I've seen, with foam padding over an inch thick on the bottom and side edges. The zipper flap has its own built in pad. The organizational features are fantastic, with all the pockets and pouches I'll ever need. The large compartment can hold enough clothes for a weekend, or a load of text books. eBags knew what they were doing when they designed this bag. It's a masterpiece!"

"I LOVE this backpack. It fits my 17" Dell XPS and my wife's Mac Powerbook as well as the respective power bricks. There's plenty of room left over. The padding is great. I have little worry of damage, especially since I use the extra padded bag it comes with to hold the Powerbook in the internal compartment. But my very favorite part is the pockets. They are many, varied and totally convenient. I seem to have a place to put everything I need to carry. As above, I am wild about this backpack (not a usual state for me) and I fully expect that other buyers would be similarly happy."

"Exceptional backpack and great value. The sideloading laptop compartment is very well designed, and provides excellent protection for your laptop. It easily holds my 15.4 inch IBM thinkpad using the padded sleve. The backpack contains well designed compartments that help you organize your belongings. The main compartment is large and easily holds legal size folders, books, etc. Storage space is not an issue. After 6 months of heavy daily use commuting to work the backpack shows no signs of wear. The only issue I have had is one of the zipper pull cords came apart. I think the plastc clip holding the cord somehow broke. This did not affect use of my backpack."

"Great laptop padding, comfortable on my back and shoulders even when carrying TWO laptops (one in padded section, one in a sleeve in the main compartment). Not super business-y looking, but if you trim off the rope loops on the zippers, it improves the business appearance. Good storage space - enough to carry an overnight's worth plus laptop and papers if you pack wisely."

"This backpack was just what I was looking for. It's just the right size for my 17" laptop, has plenty of storage, is easy to access, and it even has a pocket for your ipod and a hole to run your headphones through without keeping it unzipped. The only drawback is how heavy it is when I've got everything loaded up. But that's my own fault for buying such large laptop and all the accessories to go with it."

"This is the first laptop bag I have ever purchased that was able to be so much more. I have used laptop "backpack" bags, but they were not intended to be true, heavy scholastic-use packs PLUS a safe method to carry one's laptop. I'm a med student, so the heavy books were an issue, but it's held up really well. This has been top-notch, and as soon as the wear and tear gets the best of this one, I'm buying another."
