Product Features

  • Full-size U-shaped double zip opening for easy loading. Opening measures approximately 14” x 19”
  • Zippered mesh pocket under the front panel measures 13.5” x 18.5”
  • Fold-up wire-framed wings apply support to the feet section, allowing the duffel to stand upright even when fully loaded, as well as adding definition to the upper section. Fold the wings down when storage space is an issue.
  • Zippered mesh pockets along each wing for added organization
  • Two interior tie-tapes have extra webbing length for easier adjustments. Upper compartment measures 7” deep.
  • Forehead pocket provides easy access to a large volume pocket. The lining floats, allowing you to choose how much of the pocket to use.
  • External zippered side pocket has a built-in ID pocket – there’s no chance of losing a luggage tag in travel.
  • Classic duffel handle is secured with four buckles. No hook & loop handle wrap to deal with – plus the handle can be completely removed for those who prefer to go without.
  • Extra deep lower compartment measures 28.5” x 17.5” x 7” and has the following features:
  •    Padded perimeter walls that allow oddly shaped items some flexibility when packing – easily capable of holding gear ranging from downhill ski boots to scuba fins
  •    Two moveable shelves that allow you to pack as if it were a bookcase - preventing everything from schlumping toward the wheels
  •    Two zippered mesh pockets on the inside lid of the lower compartment. 13.5” x 15.5”
  • Convert the upper & lower section into one large compartment by unzipping the inside lid. Roll it toward the bottom and secure the two straps. Now you have one enormous compartment measuring 28.5” x 17.5” x 14.5”
  • Grab handles on both ends allow two-handed trunk-style lifting into vehicles. The top handle is spring-loaded. The bottom handle doubles as a foot.
  • Telescoping trolley handle adjusts from 46” (tallest in the industry) to 43” to 41” – no more heal kicking.
  • Trapezoid shaped trolley handle tubes are perpendicular to the load plane, providing maximum support.
  • Extra long skid rails along the bottom combine with a wrap-around skid plate for added abrasion protection.
  • Well protected wheels are hot-poured Polyurethane – the quietest wheels you won’t hear in the concourse.
  • Interior is fully lined with our signature orange nylon lining – finding fiddly-bits in the corners has never been easier.
  • YKK RC zippers throughout. Lockable on all exterior compartments
  • When used for airline travel, be sure to check for any weight limitations. The 29” can carry a lot of gear!
  • ***Correction*** This wheeled duffel does not come with photo-reflective zipper cords despite the features listed on the hangtag. They were removed due to zipper slider smoothness issues.

"I have owned the eTech 1.0 Mother Lode 25" Wheeled Duffel for many years and have been extremely pleased with the bag. Although I have had issues with the handle breaking, eBags has always honored the lifetime warranty which is fantastic! Looking for a little more space, I wanted to upgrade to the 29" however, the Mother Lode 1.0 line was discontinued. I was pleased to learn that eBags came out with the eTech 2.0 Mother Lode line. In comparison to the 25" and seeing other colleagues with the Mother Lode 1.0 29" Duffel, I was looking for a little more space and interested in the 29". The 2.0 is much more spacious than the previous version. All of the pockets and compartments (mesh, side, etc) are similar in placement within the bag however the interior dimensions of the bag are larger and offer more room than the previous 1.0. The 29" 2.0 is definitely larger than the 29" 1.0. The outside dimensions are bulkier. The handle is different and hopefully it will hold up better than the previous version. The wheels seem to be similar to the previous version. So far, pleased with my new bag and have always been pleased with any eBag backpack, duffel, and cube that I have purchased in the past."

"I am an ice hockey referee. This is my 2nd Mother Lode 29" Wheeled Duffel. My first one, purchased in 2005, was great until the zippers started having problems and the telescoping handle broke. I got over 7 years of hard work out of it, so I can't complain. It was a no-brainer for me to choose another Mother Lode when it came time for a new equipment bag. The new design is great. I thought it would be an issue that the carry straps are a one piece design. The only way to get unencumbered access to the top compartment is to unbuckle the straps where they meet the body of the bag. The new bag doesn't have that velcro wrap that joins the straps together. No matter though, as I found that I didn't use the straps at all. When I need to lift the bag, I grab the strap near the telescoping handle and the handle/stand on the bottom of the bag. Maybe it's me, but the new bag seems lighter than the old bag, so it's easier to lift. The new bag is wider than the old bag, but shorter in height. This is a good thing because it makes it easier to fit into cars with smaller trunk spaces. I had to mash the top of the old bag down in order to slide it into the trunk. The new bag slides in with no mashing. Fits like a glove. The new bag seems to have quieter wheels. The bag seems to roll more smoothly as well. Just like the old bag, the new bag has seemingly endless configuration possibilities with the internal zippers and adjustable dividers. I work with a lot of other ice hockey referees with Mother Lodes and they each seem to have their own configuration that allows them to pack their equipment efficiently and consistently. One thing I do miss is the rope zipper pulls that were attached to the zippers on the old bag. It would be nice to see that little touch added back in. Overall, this is a great bag. I highly recommended it to my ice hockey official friends and would recommended it to any other sports official that needs to carry a lot of gear."

"I recently packed 7 days of clothes for my family of 4 and 2 sleeping bags (in spacesaver bags)in this bag. This included shorts, jeans, shirts, light jackets and other essentials. It was great. I also made use of packing cubes to help organize. Not only did it make it easy to bring everything we needed with minimal suitcases (we also had the 21" ebags wheeled duffel) but it was still under 50 lbs. (no extra airline fee). The ability to get into the top half of the suitcase from either the outside or the inside is an incredible feature. It wheels nicely with good control and withstood the abuse of the airport personnel. Cannot recommend for family travel enough."

"The 2.0 version of the eTech Mother Lode wheeled duffels get it right. I owned a set of the previous incarnation of these bags, and no matter how much I *wanted* to like them, I just didn't. The 2.0 version takes everything that was annoying about the previous version - especially those ridiculous "tent poles" - and changes it all for the better. The way these bags expand/collapse requires just a few snaps, rather than the tortuous tent-pole-assembly of the prior version. The bags nest fully when collapsed, which is wonderful for storage. The "floating" nature of the forehead pocket is ingenious and very helpful. The wheels on this bag are completely and totally silent. It's almost eerie! The handles and zippers are sturdy. eBags hit it out of the park with this one...and extra points for taking my original bags back for a full refund even though I'd owned them over a year. This is why I always do business with eBags."

"If one has to pay for a checked bag you might as well take as much as you can. In this case two of us get all we need into one bag and save additional checked bag fees. I can tell you it's not often when the girlfriend has more room than she needs. It is solidly built and can be manuevered by the princess when traveling alone. Much happiness has been experienced by the luggage lackie when traveling together."

"I purchased this bag for a cruise. I wanted to get all my clothes for one week in one bag and this one worked perfectly. I purchased a garment sleeve for my suits. I was able to fit a suit, sport coat, three pairs of slacks, four pairs of shorts, two pairs of shoes, a pair of sandals, fourteen sets of underwear, socks, four dress shirts and numerous sports shirts and t-shirts. Plus, I am a big guy, so my clothes are big and take up a lot of space. Everything fit and fit well. I even got two baseball caps and a swimsuit in the upper compartment. This case is very sturdy and held all of my clothes without any fear of tearing or breaking. In fact, fully loaded, it was so heavy that it took two people to lift it into the trunk of the limo but the handles made it easy to lift. After arriving on the ship, I unpacked and put all my clothes in the closet. I then opened up the center divider and opened the top of the u-zipper using the duffle as a clothes hamper. No need to pack at the end of the trip. This is a huge case and if you are flying will definitely need to be checked but it is a great case and I highly recommend it if you need a large case."

"I love this bag. I travel several times a month for business and this bag has been a god sent. On my most recent trip I over load to 62.5 lbs but was able to pull it along like it weighed close to nothing. I was on a 2 week trip from Florida to NYC and was able to pack warm and cold weather clothes along with 5 pairs a shoes and a pair of snow boots with no problem. It is easy to lift with the bottom handle and I'm a tall girl so I love the adjust handle... overall great bag... LOVE IT"

"This product is an example of the rest of this company: phenomenal. I exchanged this bag from the old mother lode. Its zippers seem more durable, velcro is tougher, the pouch at the top is wider, but not as deep, the sides of the base are reinforced and the bag itself is wider. The only negative thing about this bag is the carry straps: Instead of two straps that velcro together on top, they are sewn together at the to and clip in down the sides of the bag, making it a one piece strap. If the straps are on, you have to to unclip them in order to access the top pouch. Overall though, a phenomenal product that I use every day, looks professional and is durable enough to make it through rough use for a long time."

"This bag is in all ways superior to the LLBean "wide mouth" duffle I am replacing. I haven't yet used the 29" Motherlode for travel but did a test pack with the slim & medium packing cubes I also purchased. Wanted to figure out the best configuration and also get an idea of what the bag would weigh fully loaded. The bottom section exactly fit 9 slims between handle tubes, then a layer of 4 mediums in a cross pattern. Top section fits 4 mediums in a cross pattern, then a layer of 2 mediums + 1 slim and 1 slim in the header pocket. It's easiest to push the packing cubes under the less accessible bottom & top area first, then fill the middle area. When it was fully loaded it weighed 50 lbs! Brilliant! The medium packing cubes nicely fit two changes of summer weight clothes--pants, shirt, socks & underwear. This is my first eBags purchase and I am a fan! Just sent my sister a gift certificate as she is also traveling this summer and needs new luggage."

"I actually like this bag quite well, which is why I am so upset that the airlines have damaged it and it requires repair. This week out, one of the plastic anchor/receptacles that the "X" strap snaps into broke off. The stress of it being removed cracked the piece beyond repair. The material is not as robust as it needs to be (too brittle). I would recommend a different material and anchorage method as there are three holes where the part was pulled out. The only other wear spot seems to be on the bottom near the corners. There needs to be additional protection/wear pads in this area. The bag itself is well organized and the handle is quite robust. The wheels roll as smooth as butter and it handles movement like a dream. This is why I could have words with the handler that damaged this thing! Nonetheless, if you travel less than I do, you will love this bag. Now, how to contact E-Bags for a replacement part. Bet that is going to take some digging!"
