Detailed Product Description

The eBags Mother Lode TLS Junior 25" Wheeled Duffel was featured in the Outside Buyer's Guide Summer 2010 issue: "Brawny and balanced...superior construction...rock steady."

Tough Lightweight Smart – TLS truly defines the new Mother Lode series. We've completely re-designed our best selling wheeled duffels and added new features and innovative functionality and performance without added weight. If you're looking for outstanding design, style, and function, you'll find it in the new Mother Lode TLS series.

Designer Notes

When we set out to design the new Mother Lode wheeled duffels, we first turned to the experts – our Customers. Combing through thousands of testimonials, our goals were to identify the most (and least) loved parts of the bag, what were the key missing features, and what was the over arching mood of our customer. After 12+ months of development, we're confident the TLS collection will exceed your expectations. We kept the best parts of the orig. Mother Lode and added a number of new features: add-a-bag strap, expandability, compression straps, more zippered pockets, a flexible bottom compartment , an innovative patent-pending backbone for rigidity, and beautiful fabric. Enjoy! Bernard Majeau, Director, Product Development

"I bought this suitcase after receiving the 29" version as a gift (in the now-discontinued grey color), and loving it for international travel and long trips. I decided to get the 25" model as well as a still-roomy but not quite so gargantuan option. Like it's bigger sibling, this is a phenomenal suitcase. I'm not a light packer, but I can still comfortably fit two weeks worth of winter clothes and gear for me, or one week for my husband and me. I love the moveable dividers in the bottom section; they're wonderful for organization, for distributing weight, and for protecting items (electronics, breakables) I don't want jostled. (As a side note, I also use packing cubes with this suitcase, which are very helpful.) I have now used this suitcase for three trips, and it seems very sturdily constructed and has held up well. The handle and wheels seem especially nice compared to some of my older (non eBags) luggage. A note on color, since that was something I debated before purchasing: the "sinful red" color is gorgeous. As a few other reviewers have mentioned it is not a true fire engine or deep red, but I find it to be a very lovely bronze-ish red (though not glitzy or metallic, very tasteful), and I think it looks very nice and put together. I haven't had any trouble so far with markings or stains on the fabric; it looks like new. My only complaints about the bag are very minor ones. I wish it had a handle on the side somewhere, as the cloth handles currently on the bag look nice and work well if you know where to look for them, but seem to occasionally confuse luggage handlers at the airport. I also wish the bags could "nest" into each other for storage. Overall, though, I'd happy make those trade-offs for such a great, well-organized suitcase, and I'm glad I made the purchase. My husband keeps trying trying to steal mine, so we may be back for more in the future!"

"Love, love, love this bag! Was worried that it would be too small for 10 day vacation, but this held everything! 2pr. espadrilles, 4 sandals, toiletries, flat iron, purses, scarves, and belts just in the bottom section. The removable partitions are a plus. The top section for clothes was amazing. I fit way more than I needed, which left me room for purchased items. All of the pockets were perfect for lingerie and undies. I plan to purchase one for my husband and each of my two kids. Stayed @ 45#, which has never happened before. The green is great for finding in baggage claim. Does show some dirt from the conveyor belts. Zippers and wheels are high quality and the front and bottom straps make for easy lifting."

"Now for the big question: how much does this bag hold? I packed for a 3-week trip to various climates 55 degrees/rain to 82 degrees sun, over rough terrain (cobblestones, stairs, rocky sidewalks, etc.) I am a 50 year-old woman who took a 10-day cruise (no formal nights) and 11-day overland trip, hauling her own luggage. PLEASE NOTE: I did not pack my toiletries in this case! I used the Savvy tote for toiletries, camera, small pocketbook, tablet, chargers, etc. I packed the following, in an UN-expanded case weighing 17.1 kg: SHOES: 2 pair Skechers Bikers slipons, 1 pair Skecher GoWalks, 2 pair wedge sandals, 1 pair Keans, 1 pair EasySpirit slipons, 1 pair heeled clogs. OUTERWEAR: 1 thick cotton field jacket, 1 thin cotton field jacket, 1 cotton cable knit sweater/tunic, 2 lightweight shrug cardigans mid-elbow sleeves, 2 cotton overblouses that you wear over tank tops, 1 thin cotton poncho, 1 cotton yoga hoodie, 1 WeatherTamer vinyl thigh-length raincoat. PANTS: 1 pairs velveteen trousers, 1 pair French terry flare pants, 2 pairs acetate mid-calf gaucho pants from Chicos, 2 pair cotton chinos ankle length from Gap, 1 pair linen drawstring pants, 2 pair floor-length gauze cotton palazzo pants. SHIRTS: 3 nylon quick-dry golf type shirts, 9 very thin nylon mesh shirts from SweetPea/Staci Frati [HIGHLY recommended for travel!], 2 thin cotton t-shirts, 4 thin cotton tank tops, 1 thin rayon t-shirt. UNDERGARMENTS: 7 pair nylon panties, 4 poly-nylon padded camis, 3 bras, 4 pair no-show socks, 3 pair peds, 1 pair ballet slippers, 1 thin nylon bathrobe, 1 silk bathrobe, 1 lightweight PJ set. OTHER: 1 Totes umbrella, 4 spare reading/sunglasses, foldable shopping bag, spare charger for tablet and camera. ---What did I bring back in my (now) EXPANDED 20.5 kg duffel?: Souvenirs totaling an amount about equal in size to a large shoebox. --Note that I never wore the Keans, Skechers GoWalks, one of the 2 pairs of sandals, or the yoga hoodie. Use that info accordingly."

"As you'll see elsewhere, this is an excellent piece of luggage. One thing I did not expect is that this piece stores much smaller than similar pieces. This was a really great surprise. If you're looking at pictures and specs, you'll see that the bottom "tub" is basically a hard shell that is 25 x 15.5 x 6.5. The "bottom" of the top part of the case is rigid, so it maintains it's shape and stability when standing upright. However, this rigid piece actually folds into the bottom tub when the case is empty, resulting in a storage size of approx 25.5 x 16 x 8 while you have a loaded size of 25.5 x 16 x 14. This means the case holds considerably more than hard-sided cases, but stores much smaller."

"This suitcase is amazing! I'm so happy to have purchased it. It has lots of pockets. The suitcase expands as you add purchases since it has one soft side and one hard side. The way you can pack it to form one extra large suitcase or two different large compartments makes it so easy to find your items. It does not tip over and rolls beautifully. The handle is long enough for a tall man. I also purchased the packing bags and this made traveling an organized experienced. Never had to go looking for something. It has made it to England a couples of times and to France. Only one recommendation, wish it had a soft built in handle on the side of the case; but, I'd buy it again without a doubt. Might just get another one for my husband. Don't hesitate to purchase this item! You'll love it!"

"The Mother Lode TLS bags are excellent. I love the fact that unlike most duffels it can open like a suitcase. We'll be using them for 2 weeks in Europe. Initially I ordered the 29" and after receiving them decided they were too big. The amount of space is amazing. When I decided to exchange them your customer service was great. And, when the credit for one bag did not show up on our credit card they helped us resolve it quickly. I definitely would order more ebags. In fact our son will be in Japan for the summer and will also be ordering a 25 or 29" duffel. Thank you for a great product and excellent service."

"I was looking for a replacement of my wonderful, but decade old Samsonite. The reviews were so good and I found it on sale for under $150, so I took the chance. First the bad. I find this bag's styling to be a bit juvenile. It reminds me of an old Jansport backpack. That being said, the bronze color I purchased is rather unique and I don't have any trouble picking it out of a crowd. It just doesn't jive with a nice Italian suit and loafers. That being said, it's a really great, well made bag. It is a terrific cross between a hardside and duffle. If you pack more delicate items in the bottom, they are protected by a stiff outside shell. However, the top and front are flexible like a duffle. That means you get the best of both worlds. Also, when you remove the rods, the case folds fairly flat and takes up half the room. I had no trouble fitting my suits with just a single fold, and at around 10 pounds, the bag can be filled without exceeding the 50 pound limit. The zippers are large and well made. The handle resists flexing under pressure and the wheels seem as strong as any. I don't fear tossing this around. The outside is even water resistant. (once got a soaked bag back from an airline) I have not encountered the ebags warranty department, but the wording on the guarantee seems promising. All in all, if the design suits you, I can't think of a better value. It's rugged and backed by a great company. With the money you save by not buying an eagle creek bag, you can enjoy a nice dinner at your next destination."

"This is my second eggplant Mother Lode TLS Junior 25" Wheeled Duffel. It replaces my last "standard" suitcase. I travel on a monthly basis and have found that the 25" bag is ideal for packing space and airplane weight limitations. Because my bags fly free, I can use the two Juniors and be able to pack for three weeks with no problem (I like to have options). The eggplant color makes it easy to locate my bags at all times. My only semi negative is that there is no side handle for this bag which can make it a little difficult to go up a large number of stairs."

"LOVE this 25" bag. Just got back from 7 day trip to NYC and was able to pack clothing (using Ebag packing cubes of course) for family of 4 (2 adults and 2 school aged kids) in addition to few Jelly Belly gift boxes. I wasn't sure if I should have bought the 29" version but so glad the 25" was all I needed. Like having the side pockets and smaller pockets on outside for few smaller items. Able to lock using D-ring. Does not tip over. Packed in full and still under 50 lbs. Easy to spot - I bought the green one. Like the bottom handle and top to lift out. Besides this one bag, all we had was my purse, my husband's laptop and our two kids brought their school backpack for food items and toys and I had one extra Target bag for some more Jelly Belly gift boxes. Compared to everyone else I saw with family of 4 at the airport - we didn't have so much stuff. When I first got it, it wasn't clear where to access the video to see how to insert rods but found it on youtube."

"This bag has been through several tests in the past 5 months; 2 trips to the east coast through various connections (including Chicago and Atlanta which are notorious for destroying luggage), 1 trip to Europe and another to the west coast. I've been impressed with the way the fabric, wheels and even the stand have survived everything the airlines and the elements have thrown at it (traveling through rain and snow). The only issue that I've seen is that if you really stuff the top portion of the bag, you should place something between your clothing and the fabric lid. This will keep delicate pieces of clothing from potentially being snagged by other bags ( eg. broken hardshell cases) that are thrown on top. A pair of flip flops in a plastic bag seems to work wonders. This bag has become my first choice for longer trips; supplanting my large wheeled Eddie Bauer duffel. Even with the baggage fees, I'd rather have the additional space and options when traveling for business and pleasure. eBags really did their homework with this duffe l and if it ever dies, I'll snag another."
