"I am a partner in a private equity firm that travels frequently and requires a handsome, hard-wearing bag. Over my career, I owned soft and hard cases by T. Anthony, Marc Cross, Canali, Gucci, Hartmann and others. None are better than my brown Hawthorne, now on its fifth year. This bag is tough, yet maintains its looks, even when crammed under a coach class seat and subject to hours of scuffing and kicking. The zippers are indestructible; the gussets withstanding years of cramming flipbooks, CIMs and other junk into them. Even in New York, this bag sets the proper tone; practical, durable and not prissy. But, it’s not built for computers; if you need room for a big lap top and charger, this bag is not for you. I don’t and simply put, the best bag I've owned,and it's got many good years ahead of it." |

"Though the leather is of the highest quality, like so many products out there today the hardware failed miserably. The size and internal organization is excellent. The shoulder strap connects via split hooks to metal rings sewn on the bag and the hook is held onto the strap with a metal pin. The metal pin does not allow tightening once loosened and the split hooks didn't make it 6 months before separating enough to where they do not hold the connection to the bag. The stitching that holds the hooks to the sides of the bag came undone within 3 months so that they hang down the side of the bag. It's a terrible sinking feeling when the shoulder strap comes free of the bag and your $1,500 laptop hits the ground!" |
