"I used this for a month during international travel. I could not carry both pieces as a carry-on, I had to choose only one. Individually they're too small for my needs. When I did add anything to the backpack & attach it to the carry-on it could no longer stand upright. The backpack was smaller than I expected, it looks like it would be more proportionate to a small child & not an adult. The fabric & wheels are highly durable. Unfortunately it did not meet my needs & became more of a hindrance. I'd rather carry a large backpack rather than this carry-on & tiny backpack combination."

"This bag looks nice and is well-constructed, but it is way smaller than I expected. I have a regular 22" wheeled carry-on, and this is much smaller. I measured it and it's actually about 19x12x6. This is partly due to the fact that it tapers towards the top like a regular backpack, so it's not square. Also, the handle takes up a significant part of the room on the inside. This was way too small for more than an overnight for me, so I returned it. Also, it peels open like a regular backpack, and I want one that opens like a suitcase. I love the removable daypack, just need a bigger main bag that's more like a suitcase."

"I packed "light" for a 2 week trip to Italy using only this bag. It worked great - I especially liked the zip-off backpack to take on day trips. I usually wheeled it - to put the whole thing on as a backpack was uncomfortable. I also carried it with the sturdy handles. Note: to stow in the overhead compartment when flying, you must detach the backpack."

"I've owned two of these and won't be buying another, now that the second one is done for. Zipped into the shoulder of the main compartment is a rigid plastic piece that keeps the shape of the bag. This plastic is brittle, and in both cases it shattered during aircraft baggage handling. You can unzip the compartment and throw away the shards, but the bag will forever sag. The second one I bought had the same problem with the plastic interior and two different seams blew out: one where the main compartment zipper attaches to the bag, and again at the large compartment zipper on the day pack. I travel about four times per year and each of these lasted less than a year before the problems arose. My advice: always travel with a sewing kit - it saved me from having to buy new luggage in the middle of a trip."

"Recently used this for a business trip. Will be using it again in a few weeks for a vacation trip to Europe. I will be ordering another one for my wife to use for the european trip. When the pack is separated into two, the day pack fits easily under the seat and the other section easily fits in the overhead bin. Was large enough to hold all I would need to get through a couple of days. Plus it held a laptop, ipad and a bunch of paperwork that was needed for the business trip. Impession was that it was a well made item and that with care it would hold up well for normal travel use."

"Bought 2 of these for my kids for our trip to Europe this summer. Took a 1.5 week trip over the holidays and tested them out. Very well made, sturdy zippers, thick canvas, good wheels. My 11yo son was able to carry it as a backpack when completely filled. The small detachable pack was great for keeping the stuff they wanted at their seat on the flight. Without the smaller pack attached it fit perfectly in the overhead bin. I'm thinking about getting myself one for our trip."

"I like the ease and versatility of this item. It can be wheeled or packed as one unit, or used as a small day pack. As a carry on, it fits in the overhead when you zip off the small pack on the front. This gave me the ability to put my personal items in the small pack and keep things I do not want to check in the larger compartment. All the different strapping options, inside and outside, were a plus. I used the larger compartment on the small pack to slip in my 13" laptop and my Kindle...perfect. All the pockets gave me the options...just what I needed."

"This is a duplicate to my prior 22 inch Wheeled Backpack Carry-on. I believe I had over 10 years use on the prior unit. No tears, no wear spots, convenient and always fit in the overhead storage on planes. Compact and very usable storage spaces. The previous unit has traveled to Africa, Ireland, England, Austria and many fishing and vacation trips. I could not believe that High Sierra still made the same unit. To be unchanged for so long speaks volumes to the durability and usefulness of this Backpack-cary-on."

"This worked extremely well for a carry on. I would unzip the top backpack to sit under the seat and put the other part in the overhead. The only drawback was reattaching the backpack being a little awkward,if fully packed."

"We purchased this bag to use on a European Vacation. It failed miserably. At the point of packing, the seams split on the bigger side. We had no choice but to use it as we were leaving the next morning. We used eBags packing cases and it was NOT overstuffed. It continued to fray and fall apart over the next two weeks. In addition the water bottle holders didn't work. We lost several bottles of water throughout the trip - either out from the bottom if we tried to keep them looser or out of the top if we tightened the straps. Honestly, we paid half as much for the two other wheeled backpacks we used that had better design and better utility. I was very disappointed."
