"This is a fantastic backpack! I have purchased two backpacks so far, one for my daughter and one for my son, both in middle school. This bag is big enough for all their books and their heavy binders that they have to carry back and forth every day for school. Whenever I pick up one of their backpacks, I am amazed at how heavy they are and how this pack can carry it all and still be in good shape. At the most, we have had to reinforce some stitching on my daughters straps, but she is especially hard on her bags, carrying school books, plus personal books and belongings. We purchased our first Fat Boy when my daughter started middle school. She is now going to be a Freshman in high school, and her backpack is still going strong after three years of middle school. She would keep on carrying the same backpack, but I have talked her in to getting a new one to start high school with. We will be purchasing another Fat Boy for sure! We were so impressed with the performance of the backpacks, that we also purchased two rolling suitcases. They are also quality products so far. I would definitely recommend any High Sierra product."

"I looked at the Fat Boy pack a couple days ago, and was very impressed. It had a cute design, as well as many different sized pockets to hold things like books and binders(The main pocket was very big and deep!). It's big enough to hold a good amount of things, but not too big. Id recommend this for middle schoolers - maybe high school too. Great pack!"

"I bought this for my son. His rolling backpack fell apart after only two months of school (due to having to drag it up a flight of stairs). He's only been using this one a few weeks, but so far so good. It's too early to give it a proper review."

"It holds alot more than you think it would. This is my second time buying this type of bookbag and the first one is still in great condition considering a junior high student was using it all year round. Excellent brand!"

"A solid, good-quality backpack. I use it daily, hauling college textbooks around. It distributes the weight well, and is generally comfortable."

"I listed my use as "Everyday Wallet/Handbag" because I tend to use this backpack when I go out instead of a purse. I have to use public transportation, and when I do go out I am out for a number of hours, which means I need to carry not just items that would go in a purse, but also a book to read, headphones, beverages and sometimes food, and other items as well. I picked this bag after reading many reviews, and I am happy to say that all the positive reviews I saw were true. I like the fact that I have a large compartment in the back, a mid-size compartment in front of that, then a small compartment with organizing elements, and an additional small pocket in the front. The mesh compartment on the left-hand strap is also very convenient, and the back padding is a good touch. Some people did not like the diagonal straps on the side which allow you to pull the bag together more (if it doesn't have much in it) or keep it spacious, but I like their function even if the placement makes them a bit awkward. There are only two improvements I could possibly suggest for the makers of this bag. I would like the shoulder straps to be more adjustable, as I am a very short adult, and the straps are still a little too long despite being at the shortest length I can get by adjustment. I would also recommend considering different colors for the zipper tabs for different compartments, especially for bags where the zippers are black--this would make it easier to distinguish which zipper(s) are for which compartment if they are all zipped to the same place."

"This bag would be great for elem. school age, but not for middle/H.S. We ended up buying a larger, deeper bag, w/ more compartments and division for my high school daughter, from ebags= the High Sierra. She is in love with all of the features & quality of the High Sierra bag. I guess the Fat Boy bag will have to be used for something else."

"This backpack was purchased for my son, who is a Junior in High School. He has a lot of books which he carries back and forth to school. He is also very hard on bags. I have been extrememly pleased with how this bag has held up."

"I bought for my daughter who is a freshman in High School this year. She is VERY picky as most 14 yr old are and she loves this backpack! It also is large enough to fit a bunch of books and notebooks since High School is where that begins!"

"I bought 2 of these for my kids (9 and 7). I was pleased when the packs arrived to see how roomy the interiors are. The kids don't have much to lug back and forth to school, but I know as they get older, these packs will be able to grow with them. My son (age 9) loves that there's an mp3 pocket and a little hole for the earphone wires to go through. I will buy another one of these packs when my 5-year-old starts kindergarten in the fall. We've had no popped seams, and only one plastic part has broken (but I think that's because my son left the pack on the floor at school and someone stepped on it). The straps are easy to adjust and stay put when you get them as tight as you need them. Good padding on the shoulder straps. I love these packs!"
