"Good pack for the money. Some extra external pockets would have been nice. Perfect size for a weekend hiking trip."

"I researched several soft backpack manufacturers and models before deciding upon the Kelty Coyote. I found a M/L to try on at the%*$!('s Sporting Goods and was pleased with the fit/design and capacity offerred. The price was lower on eBags for the same item. I used the backpack for a 5 day overnight hiking camping trip to Olympic National Park. Carried pack with a 3 man tent (Recluse style by Lodge)attached for over 40 miles. The adjustable shoulder straps made a big difference. Waist belt kept the backpack in place and in the right position. Definitely would recommend the Kelty Coyote."

"The quality of this backpack is high--everything is put together well--but there are some downsides you should know before buying. First, the positives: the seam stitching, the buckles, and the material itself is very, very durable. Although fairly inexpensive, I have been happy this summer packing around Michigan, never having a malfunction in a zipper or seam. The pack also has many, many pockets that are useful in packing and storing items. It is also fairly comfortable, with nice padding on the straps and lower back, although making the pack fit your body frame does take some adjusting of both straps and bending of the interior frame (instructions are included on how to do this last--and it's a pain, but with some playing you can can get it right over time.) The major downsides to this bag as I see it are threefold: First, the top is removable as a fanny pack, but it must be completely removed manually, pulled from its straps then later re-threaded. Pain in the buttski. This was a ridiculous design decision on Kelty's part. The only explanation is they wanted to save a dollar or two on clips. Second, it does not include a rain fly. You can buy one for $25-30, but it is unfortunate this was not thrown in. Again, why not include it? Finally, and most seriously, this bag is HEAVY. This is definitely not a "featherweight" bag. In hindsight, I am not sure I would repurchase this bag for this reason. I feel like I did get a quality, "tank" of a pack that will withstand a beating--which is great--but at the cost of lugging a tank around on my back."

"good bag for 120... solid stitching... there is a mesh pocket on the inside that could rip if you aren't careful... The bag can easily hold 65lbs great for week long backpacking trips... I did a 6 day trip in the Appalachians and didn't have to restock once because i had enough room."

"I purchased this for my first time backpacking. It came recommended by a friend. The pack had external storage compartments that more expensive bags didn't have. However, it did not have a separate entry at the bottom to easily retrieve the sleeping bag and tent, but I didn't find this to be a problem. I did take this out for a 4 day backpacking trip and it worked out well. Overall I am very satisfied with it."

"Pack is well made. Lots of pockets. Hip belt is comfortable. lots of compression straps to cinch everything tight. Hip belt tightening works great. Includes hydration pocket and hose outlet on either side. Hip belt pouches hold phone, sunglasses etc. Makes heavy loads feel light. "fanny pack" top is a plus."

"Great backpack! Broke pack in with easy 1 day back country hike and camping trip. More space and pockets than we needed. Very comfortable as well. Longer trips being planned!"
