"I used this backpack on my trip to Costa Rica with my wife and 2 girls. This was my carry-on for the flight. The backpack was extremely comfortable and fit a ton of stuff. I was amazed with how much could fit in it. The backpack easily fit into the overhead compartment. I also like the front comportment for putting items that I need easy access. In addition, my water bottles fit neatly on the side pockets. I debated about getting the larger Kelty but I tried one on at a local outdoor store and thought it was too big for my purposes. This 44 liter backpack does the job well and truly is amazing. I highly recommend it."

"Really love how much this bag holds everything and it's the right size as a carry on. There is a small pouch on the top flap that isn't mentioned in the ad. Cross reference this pack on other sites to get more info on the bag. The belt is removable if you don't want it. I bought this specifically after having tried the Patagonia MLC on a month long trip to India/Nepal. I needed a bag that could be carried on as pulling it and checking it wasn't an option. The MLC didn't have a belt to distribute the weight to the hips so it was all back and it was really unbearable with 15 lbs of gear. Might be OK for a guy but not for my 5' 4" 125 lb frame. I used this for a 5 day trip to Florida just to try it out for a test run. Everything fit just fine and I could have hung items off the daisychain if I needed more space. If you have issues with the size of the bag (for carryon) you can always remove items from the side pockets to comply with the airline's maximum bag size. Overall this Kelty works pretty well but some of the weight did rest on my tailbone, which wasn't ideal. The bag is the right size for my torso but my hips are smaller and it's just about on the smallest size the hip belt will allow. The bag can be adjusted so most people should be able to keep the pack close to the back."

"I use this bag for travel. It fits easily into the overhead bins. It *mostly* fits under the seat in front of you. Enough that the flight attendants won't say anything but it will really decrease your foot area. It can store a shocking amount. I typically travel with a 13" laptop, iPad (+ associated chargers), and 3-4 days of clothing (and a pair of running shoes), toiletry kit, a whole bunch of snack bars for those long economy flights, as well as various documents that I need. This bag can hold more than that. I am pretty rough on my gear and this bag has served well with no complaints for 6 months now. It is very light when empty, easily adjustable and well padded where it really counts. If you are looking for a travel pack I highly recommend the Kelty 44."

"The Kelty 44-Liter that came out this year is not up to my expectation. The liner after unzipped the first zipper is looked cheaper and thinner material. I like the older `2012 Redwing 44 and 50 are fit better. I hope the Kelty-company considers finding a new stronger material for both outside and inside, but not too skimpy or just trying to cut cost in the future. The Kelty name won¿t be any better if the products are not completely satisfied to customer. Lee"

"I wanted a carryon size pack that was as easy to access as it would be comfortable to carry on long day hikes. In my search, this pack met all criteria at a fair price."

"Nice bag pack. Used for weekend trips as well as for 2 week vacations. Like the front and top loading ability. I usually do not use the front loading function because the zipper on top opens up really close to the seam, so my stuff would fall out. But it's really convenient that you can open it up wide. The front zipper compartment is really good for documents. The four compression straps make the pack smaller for the use as a carry on luggage. Generally can recommend this backpack."
