"I've searched high and low for a perfect backpack that would suit my needs as an extensive but minimalist traveller (so I'd like to believe) and I'm happy to have come across Kelty Redwing 44. Just the perfect size to pass as carry-on and the front load system topped with spacious main compartment makes it a joy to use. Needless to say, the pockets and mesh water bottle holders are very useful too. I can pack one to two weeks worth of stuff here (I always stick to the minimum) and it's also very comfortable to use if you distribute the weight of your stuff in it correctly (I love the no-nonsense instructions manual that came with it). I'm positive I will get years of good service from this. However, be warned that the size is too big for urban commuting or for school and office use. For that, I would suggest getting one that holds around 30L (depending on what you want to stuff in there). This Kelty holds 44L, hence the name. Also, the one thing I wish was different would be the zipper handles. I wish they were "interlockable" like many of my Eagle Creek bags so I can at least discourage pickpockets at the sight of locked zippers. Nonetheless, I'm very satisfied with my first ever Kelty. I'm very picky with my backpacks and this one was love at first use. I'll try to come back here after many more user experience with the bag for an update."

"Good experience with it so far. Plenty of storage, waist strap helps distribute load effectively."

"The Redwing 44 is a great and comfortable backpack. I mainly use this backpack as a carry-on for traveling and it suits me well for it. You might want to check out the Redwing 50 if you want more space and volume."

"I bought this bag for my wife who was biking back and forth to work a couple of times a week. It has since become a go to bag for our whole family. It is big enough to hold most of the families things for a day trip but also comfortable to wear. We have used it for biking, skiing, and vacation and will continue to do so. Great bag!"

"I bought the Redwing 50 for use as a carry-on bag to Guatemala. I packed all of my clothes for an eight day trip. It was a little heavy and bulky, but then I pack like the typical American: too much stuff. When I returned, I purchased a Redwing 44. I've only used it twice, but it is better suited for my purposes. Now my friend in Guatemala gets a Redwing 50, slightly used. The Redwing 44 is a great pack for short trips and works very well as a carry on bag. I'm looking for many years of service from this well made, and well designed bag."

"I love this pack, and it is the absolute perfect size. I haven't actually used it for anything outdoors ¿ I use it as a carry-on on planes. If you pack it really full you might have to squeeze it a bit to get it into an overhead bin, but I've flown internationally and domestically with it plenty of times and never had an issue. In fact, this bag is big enough that I went to Russia for 3 weeks with it, though I would only recommend that for light packers. Great bag, very durable, lots of zippers and pockets, perfectly sized and a usually at a very good price."
