"I owned a previous version of the Kelty Redwing and was very impressed with it. I used it for backpacking and also to carry camera equipment on commercial flights around the country. It was well made, ruggedly built, and very comfortable. It finally wore out after 8 years of extreme use so I purchased a new one and was a bit disappointed with the quality of the newer Redwing models. While it is still a fine backpack, it is not as ruggedly built as previous models and I found this very disappointing; enough so to return the pack: 1) The shoulder straps, while thicker and more comfortable than my previous model, are not as robustly attached to the pack. With heavy use I could easily envision them starting to separate from the pack! 2) Previous model used two conventional cinch straps on each side of the pack to compress contents. New model has been redesigned to use only one diagonal strap per side which is not as effective. It looks like a money-saving design change to me and it does a much poorer job of securing the contents (very unhappy about this!) 3) Main compartment zipper is not as robust as previous model. VERY disappointed about this!! I carry $10,000 worth of camera equipment in the pack. The combination of a lower quality zipper and cinching system with only one strap per side instead of two makes the pack unsuitable for my needs now. So, my impression is that the pack has been slightly redesigned to be more cost-effective to produce at the expense of it's former heavy-duty qualities which I found so attractive. I have to say that I am VERY impressed with eBags return policy. As they promise, the return procedure was indeed "hassle-free" so in spite of my disappointment about the Kelty pack, I won't hesitate to order from eBags in the future."

"I use this bag as my medium/general purpose pack. I have several backpacks that I use for camping & hiking. I have a large, a medium, and a small pack depending on how much gear I want to carry and what skills I want to work on."

"Bought this for my son to use on his travels. Looks very sturdy and has enough pockets to be useful. However, it looks to hold enough for a long weekend. Like its size because it can be stowed as an airline carry on without issues."
