"I pre-ordered one of these when they first came out and wasn't disappointed. It was my first Maxpedition purchase, and I ended up buying a Rat wallet for the belt, and a (discontinued) pouch that was a Barnacle next to a sheath. I put that one on the side opposite the water bottle. I found I needed to have more small/mid size item storage for the bag. It doesn't have a lot of mid size compartments, though the belt zip pouch is great for your wallet, and there is a nice zipper pouch on the inside. The concealed hydration pocket is very handy. The water bottle holder is one of the main reasons I got the bag (and the waiststrap). I put a camera pouch to the front strap and it is so comfortable taking it out in that position. I have hiked for 5-6 hours and not felt any soreness. Also, the compression strap system and front flap is ingenious. Carrying a Frisbee is essential to me so this works perfectly secured this way. You can still fit the jacket, and yet attach a pocket to the flap as well. You can have so many different load outs with this pack. I stuff oranges, water and heavy stuff inside the inner slip pocket. These weighty items end up riding perfectly on the small of my back, aided by the waistbelt which I wear snugly. The bag is very comfortable, though I have to tighten the shoulder strap nearly all the way. I use the waistbelt almost all the time, as there's usually more than a few pounds of gear, water, and food inside. When there aren't a lot of items inside I can cinch it down very small and tuck the waistbelt away. It looks spectacular. I got the black and I love it. I just bought an FR-1 for the inside and relocated the Rat to the FR-1. The Rat ended up getting in the way of my left arm when it was attached to the waistbelt. The Monsoon does not hold rectangular items as well as some other bags, but I found a Saunders slim case/clipboard that fits great and holds my essential music papers. You can stuff a surprising amount of gear in here with ease."

"I like the way it's made. When I ride my motorcycle to work I don't have to worry about the items that are being carried and it seems they stay better. This bag should out last me."

"I use this bag on all international vacations. Has great storage space for my DSLR, iPad, phones, water bottles, passport, etc. Very easy to carry and access what you need. What is especially nice is the security features (snaps to secure zippers) to reduce the probability of theft from the bag."

"Initially it seems like a really cool pack but when you need to carry a variety of items, it lacks in two areas. One is that it has a very strange shape and will not allow much to be placed inside. Two, it will not sit up due to it strange tapered shape. All in all I am not too happy with it. I would recommend more of a 3 day military type pack for anyone who needs to carry much more than a light jacket and lunch."

"The Monsoon Gearslinger is a winner! I bought this bag after researching something similar to a messenger bag with the strength of a regular bookbag. The bag has tons of pockets to store your things. The strap allows the bag to sit over your shoulder without pain that msgr bags sometimes cause. The latch also allows you to take the bag off easily and quickly, which is a problem with traditional bookbags. There is also a waist strap if you need extra security. The only downside to the bag is that it does not have as much space as I expected to have, but it is still more than enough to meet your everyday needs and then some. I would buy this bag again."

"I live in Brooklyn. I'm always in the middle of a book and it travels with me where ever I go. In the city, you walk just about every where. I've found it is wise to have a bag that has enough room for things like an umbrella, a rain jacket, sunglasses and other items you may find you need during the course of my normal day. I lead class trips. This bag easily carried all of my student's medical forms and an epi pen. I carried a backpack for years and never actually put it all the way on. One shoulder strap was all I ever used. This bag is perfect. love my man purse!"
