"I used this item to carry two Micro Four Thirds cameras and some accessories on a trip to India. The purpose of using this item was to have decent protection inside a regular looking backpack, thus avoiding the appearance of a normal camera bag which merely advertises how profitable it would be to steal. The Mountainsmith Kit Cube Camera Organizer is a quality-made item that works as advertised. It fits very well inside my backpack, and the closed cell foam cushioning provides good protection without undue bulk. The closed cell foam dividers are intelligently designed to be able to be used in a variety of ways anywhere inside the bag since the velcro grips anywhere. Note that this worked well for carrying two Micro Four Thirds cameras (GH1 and OM-D E-M5) with zoom lenses (Panasonic Lumix 14-140 and Olympus 12-50) and a few accessories. However, for a more traditional size DSLR, I'd guess that it'd be difficult to get more than just one camera and zoom lens with a few small accessories. The one downside of this item is that the drawstring elastic cord is bothersome to use. It would have been far better to provide a double-door type of folding lid that had the same stiffness as the walls, or maybe a little bit thinner. If I were the Mountainsmith people, I'd redesign it that way for use inside a larger pack or for use on its own."

"I like the size, organization and construction of this item. In my opinion it's only fault is the drawstring top....not very functional. Hopefully they will remedy this in the near future."

"This cube , within its price range, does a good job, all I might ask is for an additional divider."

"An economical way to make a daypack, messenger bag or lumbar pack into a useful camera bag. Fits perfectly in an Eagle Creek day pack and provides good protection for my camera and 2 lenses. Also just right for my old Mountainsmith Blaze lumbar pack (as well as current models). The bungee secured cover adds some weather protection. Simple and very handy."

"I bought this bag after using a backpack with a camera organizer built in during a trip earlier this year. It was wonderful having padding to protect my camera and the lenses. I looked into buying a camera backpack but came across this insert. This insert gives me the flexibility of carrying my camera protected in multiple choices of backpacks or even a large tote. And I don't have to worry about having yet another backpack to store in my closet!"

"Nice cheap way to carry an SLR in a backpack; cinching mechanism a little difficult"

"I use this bag to transport my camera accessories or fragile items in my suitcase without breakage. It has velcro dividers for a tight fit for each compartment. It does what a nice job of protecting anything from the airline luggage lumpers. Also works nice in a large back pack."

"I use this insert to protect my camera for air travel. I simply slip it into a larger shoulder bag. No need to carry a camera bag as I usually hold or wear my camera when out and about on my adventures."
