"This bag was perfect for my 2.5 week Honeymoon to Europe. I bought two of these bags (one for me and one for my wife) and these could not have worked better. They fit perfectly in the overhead bins on the plane (even when stuffed) and we were never questioned about their size on any of the airlines (even the ones with strict limits, like EasyJet). The measurements are the maximum for carryon...so we had piece of mind that we would not be separated from our luggage. The bags easily fit about a weeks worth of clothing, which meant we only had to do two sets of laundry in Europe. The handles on the bags were great for carrying or for throwing up into the overhead bin on the plane or train. The backpack straps were excellent and nicely padded and the chest/waist straps helped secure the bags and provided a ton of support, which helped with the weight distribution and made any long walks (i.e. train station to hotel) much easier. Also, the number of compartments is somewhat limited, but that is exactly what we wanted to allow for maximum packing space. The pocket at the top of the pack was perfect for toiletries and the thin pocket on the front was utilized for itineraries, plane/train tickets, and directions. The zippers allow for a lock, which perfectly fit a standard TSA lock, and this helped us to secure our bags when traveling or not in the hotel room. This bag was perfect and I can't wait to use it again!"

"Bought this bag so I could travel to South Africa with a single bag. It worked like a dream! The snug down straps make it possible to "customize" the bag size. Shorter trips - snug the bag down so the clothing stays put! There were 4 of us on the African trip and we all had Osprey Porter 46 bags!"

"We purchased this bag and a TLS Weekender Convertible for a recent trip to the UK. I ended up using this bag; my husband used the Weekender. I found the bag very easy to pack (with the help of some eBags packing cubes, which came in very handy), easy to carry, and easy to convert. The waterproof section at the top of the bag worked very well for holding liquids, and the mesh compartments on the inside of the "lid" and the proved handy for smaller items such as charging cables and socks. The size and relative difficulty of the outside lid pocket made it less useful, but it was still handy for damp jackets and rain pants. The adjustable waist belt and shoulder straps allowed for secure carrying. I wouldn't want to take it on an overnight backpacking trip, but I easily walked up to 1.5 miles carrying this. Padded handles on the top and side made it relatively painless to carry when the backpack straps were tucked away. I would recommend using packing cubes with this bag. The single large compartment makes it very flexible, but might also make it difficult to locate things."

"This is exactly wanted I wanted. It is perfect for travel. The top opening makes it easy to pack everything and the outside pouch makes it easy to get to the things that you need sooner. I wouldn't hesitate buying another one."

"Great pack. Osprey is the Pack Whisperer of the backpack industry. Lots of pleasant surprises in the details."

"This is a great conversion pack. Even when full, it fits easily in overhead compartments. It's got a good harness for wearing as a backpack, although I often carry it by the very comfortable handles or with a shoulder strap. The outside compression straps really help reduce its size when it's not filled to capacity, while the foam sidewalls help it retain its shape."

"I have not used this item on the road yet, but will be going on a 3 weeks European vacation in 3 weeks and I will update my review accordingly. That said, my initial impressions are that it is an extremely high quality bag, everything is beefy and sturdy. My only concern is that the shoulder straps don't seem to be all that padded so using this as a backpack for extended periods might become a problem."

"Typical outstanding quality from osprey. It's exactly what I was looking for--a roomy carry-on size duffel that I can carry as a backpack."
