"The moment this item arrived I gave it a quick once over and then set it out in the pouring Oregon rain for over 12 hours. Sad to say it is not completely waterproof but I didn't expect that given the stitched seams and the zippers. The black hole fabric did not retain any water whatsoever but the interior fabric took some drying out. On the bright side it is highly water resistant with plenty of room inside. I very much like the layout of the bag, very good profile, doesn't end up looking like a freaking turtle shell when filled to the brim and carries like a smaller bag. Rides high which I prefer and is very comfortable. I recommend this over The North Face bags of similar water resistance. Perfect size for school and as a day pack, I could put a sleeping mat on the side and a sleeping bag lashed to the top comfortably with my camelbak inside the laptop pouch. It is not too big, not too small, it is just right. Also, I can put my sweater on top of my school books without the bag bulging all weird. Pros: Size, shape, function, materials, water resistance, comfortable, color!! Cons: Top zipper is curved and is not super quick to open one handed, but I am sure this aids in the top opening style and water resistance. I also would probably not store water sensitive items in the two outer pockets that I so dearly love. I was not able to find any video reviews of this bag online... I will do one over this winter break so be patient if you are looking to buy this, but rest assured it is an awesome bag. The best price I could find was on ebags and one other website using a coupon but only in the black color. I hope you find this helpful. -Alex"

"So in love with this bag. I am a commuter by bike in Seattle, and I've had many "waterproof" bags-- none compare to Patagonia's Black Hole Pack. I love the organization, it's nothing like carrying a heavy duty trash bag as some of my old bags have been. The color is awesome, and I have had absolutely no problems yet!"

"This is a wonderful bag: I took this bag on a week long trip to Hawaii as my main carry on (we checked a bag for larger items like our tent, sleeping bags, and camping stools) and I was able to fit all of my clothes and other necessities into this bag. I'm very confident that if I did not require camping gear, this would work for an entire week of summer clothes. It was very comfortable to carry; possibly the most comfortable backpack I have owned. The sternum strap was great, but the waist strap seems like an afterthought and I never used it. It also fit a weeks worth of groceries minus the eggs which I carried by hand. (very) minor gripes: The main zipper is a bit difficult to get to quickly because it is protected by the flap. This provides great protection, but just an extra two seconds to open the bag. When it is compressed with few items in it, there a lot of straps kind of flapping around. Maybe some velcro or something can help this. Be careful when putting the bag down flat that you do not leave the lid compartment open, or else things will fall out. Overall a great bag, and I plan to use it for all of my trips in the future."

"This bag is the BEST for commuting. It is great for vacation/work travel as well - I took this to Tokyo recently for business and walked around 5-10 miles a day it was excellent! I love how it collapses when it is not full."

"I just received this bag on 3/1/2013 and I have decided to return it immediately, the bag is not natural, it does not flow with any type of daily, biking or recreational experience. Pro: appearance, the bag looks nice Con: organization, the bag does not have any organizational harmony, there is only one quick grab compartment situated on the top of the bag and strangely enough, this small zippered compartment at the top is not sealed from water leaks, so in the unfortunate event of you getting caught in a down pour, the main compartment will get soaked. Functionality, the bag does not offer any functional features, like bottle holders for biking or webbing for hiking or loops for trekking poles. The bag is not user friendly; you have to fight this bag, hold it down, and bend it backwards, just to pack it. The shoulder straps do not have any "D" rings or webs for external attachments. The bag is just a bag and is simply not functional; in fact, you almost need three hands in order to open the bag, hold it in place and pack it. Structure and Form, the bag does not have proper form or structure. One of my main grips with this bag is THE BOTTOM OF THE BAG IS NOT FLAT, it has a forward slant, so when placed on the ground, it automatically falls forward every time, making it practically impossible to pack or rest on the ground without it falling forward, you will have to lend it against a wall or something stable. Second, the handle on the bag is poorly positioned and weakly designed. Material, the material is durable, but it is 100 polyester, this makes for a very staticy experience. The material is water resistant which is a plus, but does not overcome the fact that the top of zippered compartment is not sealed to resist water. Finally, I would not recommend this bag. Out of 5 stars, I have to give this bag 1 star."

"This is very durable and will hold all of my books and binders for high school. If you need a very large back pack, this one is for you. It is waterproof, not just resistant!"

"I love this bag, It is really roomy inside, I can fit my computer, books and lunch and still have room to stuff a jacket. It's very comfortable. I'm 5ƍ and only need to adjust it slightly to fit my frame. I work full time and go to school at night and it's rugged enough to handle my dragging it around from work to school. My only complaint is that it doesn't have any outside pockets for a water bottle, I have had to clip my water bottle on with an S clip. I'm not really in to the water bladder type thing, that just seems gross."

"This is such a sturdy backpack. It fits my 17" macbook pro perfectly. There is a ton of room for all my books, pens and misc. The only con is no key chain clip or outside water bottle holder. However, it looks great, is super comfortable and very durable. I absolutely love this backpack."
