"I love Rick Steves luggage and bags, so was excited about this one. It is small but holds a lot for a day pack. It is also stuffable and weighs very little, which is important to me when I travel. Because of its profile, it is a bit short and fat, and so in crowded places you have to watch your back from hitting things. The real reason I would NOT buy this bag again is the microfiber fabric is soft but sticks to your shirt. I can't walk one block without my shirt crawling all the way up my back under the bag. If they used a more slick nylon fabric it would be great."

"I was looking for a smaller, lighter pack and this is doing quite well. However, my only criticism is the fabric is softer than I thought (it's more like clothes material) so it does not seem as if it can carry a lot of weight. I don't want to overload it anyway, but it's just not as sturdy as I originally thought. It does the job as my ""purse" every day though and I have can carry everything I need. Would definitely purchase again."

"I bought this pack to carry around Italy when I tour with students. I love the material and that it is so light-weight, which is why I got it in the first place. It's great because it fits in my suitcase, which still allows me a larger bag and personal item as my carry-on luggage."

"The daypack works exactly as advertised. It is extremely light and durable enough for light packing. I use it to take materials for business travel - I use it as my briefcase, and also use it on walks and hikes. When I travel it is so small it easily packs into my carry-on so I only have one bag to worry about."

"This is my THIRD purchase of this item. Earlier problems with the zippers snagging on the storm flap have been eliminated¿along with the storm flaps. The two mesh side pockets now sport drawstrings and a barrel-lock. In an earlier version this feature might have saved a $600 pair of Rx sunglasses that fell out. On the downside, said drawstrings on one side pulled out the first time I used the bag."

"Used this pack once for travel. The material is suede-like cloth and didn't seem very durable. The seams were stretching with just 2 water bottles and some light items in it. The bottom should have some type of support in it to help shape the bag."

"If you want a daypack which collapses into a jacket pocket or a larger bag, the Civita Daypack is just right. The pack holds more than you would think, and the organization is handy. I have used it as an airline carry-on, for minor shopping and other light duty purposes. There are shortcomings: (1) The shoulder straps are too short for men, particularly in the winter. I am 5 feet 9 inches tall and thin and have trouble getting the pack on when wearing a winter jacket or autumn chilly weather layers. (2) The drink/bottle holders are sufficient for cans of pop or short bottles of water/juice. Medium to large bottles or cans will fall out if the daypack is jostled. (3) The zippers catch the cloth storm flaps which cover the zipper seam if you are not careful. Disentangling the flaps from the zipper is difficult."

"Just one warning to potential buyers/users. Since it is so soft, it does not have the structure that you may associate with a backpack, and it will take on the shape of anything you put in it, especially if the item is heavy."

"I purchased a bag like this from Rick Steves directly about five years ago. It has accompanied me on many trips since then and is still in perfect condition. I bought it again from eBag as a birthday present for my husband so that he would stop borrowing mine. He took it along on our two-week vacation in Greece. We pack the bag in our carryons to use as day bags at our destination; they are not used for transit or for hiking. The new bag failed miserably. Within a day or two of first use, the cord on one of the mesh water bottle pockets pulled out. A day or two later, the second followed suit. Then the hang strap separated from the bag. I noticed when the bag arrived that the fabric now seems to be a little lighter than that of the original bag. The quality of the construction is obviously much inferior. Please tell Rick Steves about this disaster. We relied on his experience as a light packing traveler to sell bags which are lightweight, packable, and DURABLE."
