"It does smell as the other posters have indicated but it goes away in a couple of days. The cutouts are in perfect position to allow for operation of the buttons and charging. The worst thing about it is that in the stand up mode, as it is pictured, it slips. I've had an IPAD case that is similar for a first gen IPAD and I've never had it slip. This case for my Kindle Fire HD has slipped several times while it was in all of the various positions. I think the ridges need to be more pronounced. The smell is minor but the slipping and the price they charged are the reasons why I would NOT buy this item again."
