Rothco M-51 Engineers Field Bag 

"Well, I loved it when I got it. Lots of pockets and flaps and places to put stuff. Something out of the ordinary without being flashy and with a masculine feel. It was great until late January (4 months). I got home from work one evening, pulled the bag out of the trunk of the car (by the handle on top), slung the shoulder strap over my shoulder... and the webbing that is sewn to the top of the bag to support the D-ring that the shoulder strap clips to just disintegrated. The shoulder strap and D-ring flew up and hit me in the face and the bag hit the ground. That's when the zipper that goes around the outside pocket broke apart, sending my laptop skidding down the sidewalk. I'm now using a bag I got several years ago at a discount retailer for about 1/3 what I paid for this one. It looks ok, and is sturdy as an old Buick."

"Love this bag's looks and functionality although, as some others have mentioned, it is strangely heavy for its size. I originally purchased this to use for a city travel day bag, and it appears that it will work well for this purpose. There is a clear pocket that will hold a map unfolded for easy reference, and many other organizational pockets, with room in the main compartment for snacks, drinks, etc. It is a great size - not too big, not too small - and sits well against the body. The strap is not well padded, which might become uncomfortable with extended use if the bag is full, since the bag is somewhat heavy already. I may end up using this bag for work as well, since it seems sturdy enough to hold up to repeated transit of books and binders. Overall, very pleased!"

"My purpose is to use this bag while traveling which is not too often. Good for that purpose. Few improvements like longer pen holders, addition of a bottle holder on one side will make it a better bag."

Your wallet and cellphone and keys will always be under everything else"

"I bought it to replace an EXCELLENT "messenger bag" that I have used for several years on a daily basis & taken all over the world when traveling. It just arrived this week but I find that it has more room & probably will be more durable that the wonderful bag that I'm retiring. BTW, I chose the olive -- rather than black -- to make the bag easier to spot quickly in airline overhead bins."

"I bought this item to use as a daily purse since I often to need to carry larger items. Unfortunately it turned out to be too big. This bag has a sturdy construction with plenty of room for a laptop and other gear. In fact if you are looking for an alternative for a messenger bag or an overnight bag, this is a good choice. It just is too big to be a purse."
