"I love this backpack. I bought it for a 12 day trip to Germany. I easily fit everything I needed for the trip in the pack and had room left over. Even on the way back I didn't have to let out the expansion straps. Of course, I used compression bags for my clothes, so that helped. I can't believe the number of pockets in this backpack. It was great for keeping things organized. I'm a small 50 yr old woman and I found the pack comfortable and easy to carry. It fit easily in to overhead storage on airlines and trains. I highly recommend it."

"I'm very happy with the bag. It is strong, versatile. I prefer to carry it on an airplane, so I can remove the steel rods, enabling it to collapse. The large number of compartments helps keep things organized. It would be nice if there were a choice of colors. Also, it would be helpful if the zipper or opening to each compartment were of a contrasting color: having everything black makes the openings and zippers harder to find."

"First of all, I want to thank customer rep Deborah who helped me change my order during mid-delivery. PROS: The bugout bag is an excellent design. If you have ever done any serious backpacking, you would know the importance of the aluminum internal frame and full hip belt to properly transfer most of the weight to your hips. The shoulder straps and hip belt are more than adequate for proper backpacking and stow away neatly. Organization and compartments are very practical. The first large compartment will comply with the maximum carry limits with the capability to expand capacity. I was happy to see that the length and width can be compressed down to about 20 inches by 14 inches (which means that you can make it squeeze under the smallest of carry-on limits. I can fit an ipad/keyboard in a neoprene case or small netbook (without case) into the internal zippered flap pocket of the second compartment. The same second compartment can easily hold a full-sized laptop in a sleeve. CONS: The 600D fabric is thin. It's too bad SOC only offers this black light fabric version to civilians (There appears to be an SP 1000D version in black offered to military personnel). The fabric will probably hold up adequately for moderate use but will probably not hold up to tough conditions. Ironically, it is a bit heavy for its size (although not as heavy as the 5.5 lbs advertised; total shipping weight including box was only 4.5 lbs. the higher weight is probably for the 1000D camo version). This is because of all the extra molle webbing, velcro strap ends and other design features packed into the bag; all the ounces add up. My bag came with the updated design. The compression straps now extend all the way to the third outermost compartment which gives more ability to compress. However, the downside is that the upper compression strap will put a lot of stress on the outermost zipper. CONCLUSION: Good design and good value for the price. Wish fabric was tougher."
