"The Base Camp is the standard for duffel bags. I have had a medium I bought from Ebags a couple of years ago and I love it. Recently, I purchased a large with some concerns. The North Face has done some changes to the large which has caused concern. One upgrade is the pocket on the end of the bag that can be used to stash small items with a netted partition. The pouch is much needed, but it is not a pocket that can be secured. The newer styles of the large bag do not have the zippers with the small hole where you can put a TSA lock on it if you travel. In order to use the bag, I had to remove the zipper tab extensions, small ropes looped through the tab holes, to use a cable TSA lock for travel. Even though the locks did hold up, I would be concerned if the bag was not handled right, the zipper tabs could be ripped off. Another concern is the need to update the straps for easy removal or made in a way they can be tucked away for travel. It is a pain to remove the straps and then try to thread them through the loops at the airport after picking up the bag from baggage claim. This option for removing the straps is becoming the more the case with Mammut Cargon, Patagonia Black Hole and Helly Hansen's Duffel Bag Two. I would suggest more padding on the straps as well. Also, the carry handle I have on my medium is not on the Large. The large is just the backpack straps without the carry straps on my medium which makes it hard to carry. Still this is a tough bag tried and tested. It just needs updating to meet the needs of travel through airports to get to base camp."

"Strong and durable. The bag is almost not large enough for what I pack but just the right size to keep to yhe weight restriction of the airlines. Love the durable zippers. Wish there handles on the top but the handles on the sides make it easy to carry. Overall I'm satisfied."

"Great bag, however they no longer build carry handles into top portion of the bag. I pack a lot into these bags and a good handle is a must!!! Not pleased with the change."
