"I just took this bag on a 7 day trip to Glacier National Park. I used it to carry essentials on the airplane including my iPad which I put in the padded compartment. It worked just great as a carry on. Then at Glacier National Park we hiked many trails and I used the padded compartment for my hydration pack. The backpack had a velcro loop to hold the pack upright and an opening for the tubing. I also loved the chest and hip straps which took all the weight off of my shoulders. This is a great backpack that works well in the city of hiking in the back country."

"The North Face Recon is just the right size for daily use. I'm easily able to pack my 15" notebook and other work items. The straps and backpad are comfortable. This is my 2nd Recon, the first one is over 6 years old and still in good shape, it was more about getting some new features and a different color. One change I would like is to go back to the cinch cords for the drink bottle pockets. Very happy with eBag.com experience, good selction, price, and quick shipping."

"This is a great pack. Looks sick, and is built extremely well. It is very versatile. My favorite thing about it is the mesh pocket on the outside. It gives you the ability to quickly store things, and can hold a decent amount of items. I would highly recommend purchasing this pack whether you are a student, or avid outdoorsman."

"My husband has the slightly older version of this bag and it suited him well, so I ordered mine. I use it every week day for classes and it holds an acordion file folder, text book, and 2" 3-ring binder well. I like that I don't have to scrounge for my pens/pencils/calculator for classes, and I have stash pockets for snacks and water bottles."

"In all it's an okay backpack, but I highly, let me reiterate...HIGHLY recommend not buying this for school or even as a daypack. For starters, this isn't my first North Face Recon backpack. I used to have an older model one that lasted me for over 5 years (3 years of high school and 2 for college), unfortunately its getting old, and I thought to replace it, unfortunately, I did not get my coveted daypack. Why? Because North Face made unnecessary changes to this ¿ model" Whats changed: -29 Liters!!!!!!!!!! That is way to small. By already packing one textbook you are already making the organization pocket tighter. The original recon was 33 liters, a very generous size. -No compression straps at the bottom of the bag (not a big deal but great for hiking -The joke that they call a large mesh pocket is not true, cant even fit a jacket or bike helmet on there. My old recon's mesh pocket was bigger and it COULD actually fit a jacket and bike helmet, without obstructing the interior pockets volume. Now the reason why I don't recommend it as a school bag is that again...its just to small. By carrying 2 textbooks its already impossible to put more stuff in the organization pocket or even the outer mesh pocket! Why North Face WHY!?!?!?!? Did you make unnecessary changes!!! I recommend going to your nearest sporting store to buy the original recon (some stores still carry them Sun and Ski, REI, CD and Ski Sports) Now that!!! Is a great backpack, do yourself a favor and don't buy this model, I recommend either the North Face Router (just purchased) or a Patagonia Chacabuco great pack!!! Really disappointing purchase."
