"I was about to leave for a backpacking adventure for Asia, and I'd never used this backpack. As I was packing last of my things into it, a rip opened up along the side of it. But what was I to do? -- I was heading to the airport in 20 minutes. So for three months while I was in Southeast Asia, I kept it sewed up, but always worried that during transit on a plane it would open up (or be pried open by someone else!). And I had not overpacked the backpack. Very disappointing, but North Face repaired it for me for free (though I had to pay shipping to them) -- I had requested that they replace it, but they didn't...."
