"Awesome backpack. I'm someone who likes all of her things to have their own spot, and this backpack allows for that. In my old Dakine backpack, I had no where to put things like my keys, my wallet, or a graphing calculator. I was having to throw random things into the main compartment and then things were getting tangled with my keys and overall just really disorganized. In this backpack, everything has a place, and there is room for all of the junk I insist on lugging around."

"For me, color choices on this bag seem lacking, but I needed it for laptop protection (with a sleeve). I reluctantly bought this bag thinking it would be baby blue as the picture suggest, but it is in fact really pretty hues of teal. The color looks lovely against the gray. When initially packing it I thought there were too many pockets on the inside, but after traveling with it I really like the interior organization. I like that everything has a place, so very little can move around. I debated whether it was worth buying a backpack made for women (as I am pretty broad in the back/shoulders), but totally love the feel. FYI--the differences from the men's version is about an inch in the torso and the shoulder straps are wider. Again, I didn't have any problems with the fit and the bag probably had a good 45 pounds in it. Despite its high cost, I totally recommend this bag to anyone considering it. You will not be disappointed in the quality, fit or organization that The North Face Women's Surge offers."

"My Dad bought me this backpack specifically for college. I am a smaller female, so backpacks have always been a "weigh me down" issue. The support I get from the Surge is remarkable. I easily fit my 13" Macbook in the laptop compartment. I love that the compartment is right against my back. It completely redistributes the weight closer to my upper body strength so I don't feel it. The durablity of the straps are excellent. It feels like something a soldier might have, yet is amazingly stylish! I haven't weighed how much "stuff" I've put in my surge but I can say I always have my laptop and accessories, multiple text books, a 2" binder, and enough girly girl stuff to fill a carry on bag! I can walk all day from building to building without ever feeling "weighed down" or in need of immediate back surgery. I have never had a North Face product before this backpack as they have always seemed too expensive. My dad saved $20 on my particular color because it was discontinued. I have no idea why because I get so many compliments on it! I think he paid $80 but this backpack is worth well over $100. If anyone out there is looking for the perfect backpack for a smaller framed girl, look no further. Just order this one! There is no doubt that most of the time, you get what you pay for. If you buy a canvas $30 backpack, be prepared to keep buying them and having your daughter moan about back pain. I rated this bag a 7 for pricing because on the surface it seems expensive. The price is actually a 10 for what it is actually worth. This is by far the best backpack I've ever had!"

"As a petite woman (5¿" / 108 lbs.), I am accustomed to seeking out petite-sized clothing. I didn't realize this also applied to backpacks until now! The North Face Women's Surge is PERFECT for my smaller body frame. I love the separate compartments and pockets for my books, pens and especially the outside pockets (1 on each side) for my water bottle. The opening for the laptop compartment could be made a little wider (as it is just right for a 15" macbook), and it could use a bit more padding from the front compartment, but not a total dealbreaker. And when I'm carrying my 15" Macbook, my kleen kanteen filled with water AND 15 lbs. of books and papers, all that weight is magically evenly distributed. But the icing on the cake for me is that it doesn't look bulky whatsoever. Overall, I highly recommend based on quality, style, and functionality."

"I love this backpack! I am only 5 ft tall and weight 105 lbs and it is the perfect size for me while still being able to hold everything I need. It is perfect for school every day or two weeks in Africa. I bought it for my trip to Sudan and it was great for carrying my laptop, DSLR camera with case, extra clothes, food, two large nalgenes, and other odds and ends that I needed throughout the day. It is great for carrying on planes and running through airports without feeling very heavy, even when it is full. After that trip, a whole school year, and other small trips, halfway into my second school year with it, it shows almost no wear. It is super durable, and narrow enough for my small frame. I absolutely LOVE this backpack!"

"I'm in med school and I've been using this backpack almost daily to carry my gigantic books and 13" laptop. Since my books are quite thick, it can only carry one or two at the most, but I don't usually bring more than that anyway. I like that it has a lot of pockets so I don't need to rummage around to find my stuff. Also, this sits comfortably on my shoulders and doesn't give me much strain (don't know how it does that, but it does). Overall, this is a pretty great backpack, just a bit pricey, but still worth it in my opinion."

"I couldn't possibly love this backpack anymore and my experience with ebags was amazing! They were $45 cheaper than everywhere else, and my purchase was even insured through google. Also, shipping was 2 days and free! I couldn't have been any happier A++"

"I have to travel for a living and have gone thought at least 3 packs in the last 3 years. Too big, too small, poor fit, etc. This pack is ergonomically designed for a women and fits my shoulders really well without any undue pressure on my neck and back. Rear pocket is perfect for iPad/laptop storage. Sturdy zipper construction and well appointed pocket placement and design. The open side pockets work great for my coffee mug and water bottle. Lots of good internal pockets, mesh pockets and pen pockets. I like the 3 larger compartments and one smaller one on front with open face access. I think this will work great to use as a day hiking pack on layovers where other work/school packs just end up being cumbersome and uncomfortable. Have used it daily for past month, so I do not have any input on how long it has/will last, but construction seems really sturdy. Love it and would buy again instantly."

"The size is perfect for the out of town trip. It has all the compartments for quick grabs but keeps them secure. I love that it has a separate space for a laptop for more protection."

"I purchased the Vaporous Grey Heather women's surge only after reading almost all the commentaries about it. I am currently going to school for nursing and all my Biology books are HUMONGOUS. It is a lot to carry along with my 15' mac (laptop). With a regular backpack my back would constantly be hurting. After deciding to purchase my first North Face backpack I can say that I truly love it!!! All of the compartments are pretty awesome and the backpack is so comfortable. I can say that my biggest debate was the color but in the end I had a lot of my friends vote for the one I purchased. By the way, Im so happy I found this website because the price here is amazing compared to the actual NF store. (:"
