"I've had this bag since May 2011. I can't remember what exactly prompted me to order it because I was not familiar with Timbuk2, but I'm sure it was the size and weight features and partially the consumer reviews. I'm a travel bag aficionado because I'm always looking for the perfect travel set-up and willing to invest time and money, researching and buying, to make my travel easy. My situation is that I live in Europe [US expat] and travel by airplane [125k+ miles annually] to a variety of countries almost every other week for work and my trips average from 2-7 days. I often travel with the wingman as my only bag because it is the most versatile. Using packing cubes, I can fit the essentials [including workout gear] for my trips very easily and slide my laptop [w/sleeve] in the laptop compartment, though that part may not be fully zipped depending on how much the bag is filled, but this feature allows for easier security checkpoint removal. The pockets on the outside ends of the bag accommodate my size 13 shoes and dopp kit/3-1-1 bag. Because the bag is more of a rectangle than your typical round duffel bag and has such a wide opening to the main compartment, it can hold more. I was asked/forced to check my wingman only once, and that was in Turkey at the ticket counter for a regional carrier, where there is an archaic weight rule, regardless of if the bag is small. I have a Tom Bihn Aeronaut and it doesn't hold as much, but still is a very high quality bag [made in the USA]. I have a Redoxx Airboss and it is also a high quality bag [made in the USA] but does not have the option to go completely hands free [i.e. no backpack option] when you want to use both hands or when the bag may get heavy [inevitable sometimes] and irritate the shoulder[s]. No bag is always perfect for every travel scenario, that's why its good to have a few options, but my primary travel bag is the wingman."

"I recently purchased the Wingman Travel Duffel for my 15 day trip to Europe. My experience with this bag was extremely positive. The bag easily held 3 pairs of pants, 1 pair of shorts, 7 shirts, socks, underwear, pjs, flip flops, toiletry bag, converters, maps, guidebook, travel towel, travel hair dryer, and souvenirs! My bag weighed around 10kg which was comfortable to carry on my back and at only 5ƈ"; I never felt the size of the bag was too much to manage. I also found it easy to pack and repack the bag between stops. After 4 countries and 6 stops, I never saw anyone else with the same bag and it still looks brand new. If you are looking for a convertible duffel/book bag, this bag is the choice!"

"Just came back from a two week trip which included 5 planes, 1 Eurostar, subways, buses, and two senior citizens in a foreign land. I had my hands full with other things so it was absolutely terrific to be able to sling my Wingman onto my back and jet down the narrow aisles. Our extra jackets and clothes along with brochures, snacks and even my day bag all fit easily while still being accessible. It's deconstructed style makes overhead storage worry free especially with handles all around. The zipper pulls have holes large enough to fit travel locks if you need some security. This had a minor downside in that the pulls could rotate around so that they weren't aligned for pulling on the zipper. The overall quality is Timbuk2 that is to say "great". The look is handsome and modern. I would buy Timbuk2 products again based on this purchase."
