"I had the same black Trager messenger bag for 4 (or is it 5+?) years. I've seen bag manufacturers with their designs that come and go, "in" this year and "out" the following year (or, made of new material "this" and material "that"). They've tacked on shiny metal stuff, grommets, studs, holders, and other crap on it. But the Trager bag's enduring design and construction has withstood shifting tastes and served me well through years of use (travel, school, military deployments).
Today is black Friday and eBags.com is offering 20% off and free shipping for the same bag. But my bag has still years of good use in it... &%!#@!!!

"This is one of the most durable and useful messenger bags on the market. I've owned a Seattle Messenger for around 10 years now. I used it every day as a graduate student, hauling as many as 10 books and a laptop, and I use it now daily as a professor (doing pretty much the same thing). It is extremely well-built and can store an enormous amount of gear. In fact, I use it regularly as a carry-on for short trips. It has lots of useful compartments for storing stuff, and the strap and all the closures work beautifully, even under the harshest conditions. It lacks the style of Timbuktu bags, with their flashy colors, but there is simply no better bag on the market, in my opinion. In all the time I've owned it, I haven't had a single problem with it. You really can't go wrong." |

"I have used this bag daily for work as well as traveling from Hong Kong to Budapest on business. There are lots of areas for accessing various pockets for quick access as well as the capacity for stuffing large items as well. Which brings me to something to be aware of; because of the large capacity of the areas it's easy to overstuff this bag making it quite heavy. I bought mine seven years ago and it actually is in great condition. The zippers are fast and durable, working without fail. The straps have not frayed and the stitching is still solid. Another plus is that the bag is pretty light when unloaded. Needless to say the bag has stood up to spills on and in. Overall a really durable bag for me that has worked out great over the years." |
