"Really fantastic for travel. Used in when in SE Asia this summer to stay in touch with my boyfriend. Turns out even if you want to fork over obscene amounts of cash to your carrier to roam internationally, there are plenty of countries (Vietnam is one of them) where U.S. carriers don't operate. Used these to stay in touch whenever we separated -- at the market, on the beach, at the hotel premises, when visiting big temple structures -- and generally kept on us just in case. Fortunately never had a real emergency use for them, but really loved using the free offline maps to plan our visits and be sure we were talking about the same meeting place. Worth it for the maps alone. The devices have good range, we got about 0.5 mile in a city environment and several miles around rice paddies and on the beach and even at Angkor Wat in Cambodia."

"I was an early goTenna user, and originally ordered a set as a pre-order customer all the way back in 2014. Honestly wasn't sure I'd ever see it, but since it arrived last year, I've found them to be incredibly reliable for the trips I've had them on. I recently picked up a second set ¿ you can only talk to other users, so when I hike or camp with my friends, anyone who wants to communicate in the group needs one paired to their phone. Most recently used them while hiking near Orem, UT. We ended up covering nearly seven miles on our most distant messages, which was pretty cool, and by far, a record for me. It's important to keep in mind that these are radios, so range is finite, and subject to terrain. But I've never had them let me down. Definitely recommend for anyone who spends a lot of time hiking, or doing anything else really, in areas where cell service is bad or nonexistent."
