"I am a small guy so regular backpacks are always too big and do not fit right. This backpack is an excellent alternative. Granted you cannot fit the kichen sink in it, but if you want a well made bag that is well designed and will take your lunch, a book, a compact umbrella, a water bottle, and a sweater or light jacket, this bag works!
Sometimes I do wish it was larger and have bought several backpacks to replace it; they have all gone to Goodwill and this one remains. The others had me packing too much stuff I'd never used (I travel by public transport and use my feet to get around, so I know what it means to have a bag that carries enough). I always come back to this one (had it for 2 years).
It would not work well for a student pack, I couldn't imagine it holding more than one or two my law school tomes in my student days, but if you do not have to carry too many things it is a bang fo the buck."
"This is a kid's backpack, but an adult can carry it and look normal. It's big enough for notebooks and paperbacks and general purse stuff. I like how the front pocket has a clasp, so the bag hugs your body and doesn't pull your back downward. This makes it very comfortable, and the back padding is very nice as well.
This is a good school bag for someone who doesn't need to carry a lot of books at once, but wants a backpack for notebooks and binders. It distributes the weight very well, and the back padding is solid and helps keep your back ventilated when you are walking long distances.
The North Face makes great products, usually they are pretty large or way too small, this is a good "medium small" bag."
"I bought this as a school pack for my kindergarten age son. It is a nice pack. Well put together. Attractive. However, it is too small for school use. A standard school folder barely fits. We ended up getting a larger North Face bag and using this for weekend outings and such."
