Detailed Product Description
The Victorinox Mobilizer NXT 5.0 22" Expandable Carry-On is a full-size, full-featured carry-on with many functional features including an expandable (2.5") main compartment, removable fold-out garment sleeve, and three-height telescoping handle. Also includes small and large exterior pockets.
"The Mobilizer NXT 5.0 22" is by far, one of the best carry-on's available. The design is very accommodating without forcing you to think about organizing your clothes, shoes, toiletries, suites, etc., around the compartments like a lot of the nicer bags are doing these days. I can pack a lot of stuff very quickly ¿my way¿. I especially like that my Eagle Pak which holds a week¿s worth of pants and shirts, fits nicely outside in the zipper front compartment, the suite holder is removable, and not too big.
I travel a lot; I was very pleased with my last Travel Pro, which finally wore out after 8 years. I liked the Travel Pro, (it was my 3rd over 15 years), but they do not make them of same quality today as they did. I also looked at similar sizes in Tumi, Briggs & Riley, Eagle Tarmac, and Hartman. Nothing has the capacity, quality, weight, construction, sleek design and versatility for packing in a carry-on, as the NXT 22", from what I reviewed. The outside design is great; large and small outside front zippered compartment, handles lay flat, walking extension handle adjusts, bottom rest is also a handle which is nice for overhead removal, and wheels are top quality with good placement. I just completed a 2 day trip to Florida, and 4 day wedding trip to LA with a suite, 3 pair of shoes, 4 dress shirts, 3 polo shirts, 2 ties, 3 pair of slacks, workout cloths, bathing suite, 5 pair underwear, 5 pair socks, and 2 pair walking shorts with room to spare; did not need to use expansion feature. It fit nicely in the SW Airlines overhead. It is not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. Will have to see how she holds up for next few years. Main thing is weight, capacity, and durability when you travel like I do.Go check it out at the luggage store against the rest, then purchase from eBags and save! I spent several hours learning about latest technology in luggage stores last month prior to selecting the NXT 5.0 22¿ from eBags. Highly recommend!"
"I fly every week and traveled more than 200K miles last year with this bag. This bag is extremely durable. I have been using it for about 18 months and it looks and functions almost like new. Victorinox has excellent warranty service. One day getting off the plane, I noticed that the pull handle was stuck, obviously damaged by the ground crew. I called Victorinox, received an RMA, and had a brand new suitcase within the week.
A couple of peeves that I have about the bag:
1) It's really designed for a left-handed person. When carrying the bag (with your right hand) by the end handle, it is extremely awkward to stow the bag on its side, because the side handle is away from where you would grab it with your left hand.
2) The suiter opens away from you, rather than opening toward you. When you set your bag on the luggage rack in a hotel room, you would expect the suiter to open toward you (as it is impossible to open it away from you with); to use the suiter, you really need to turn the bag sideways and open the suiter to the left or to the right.
3) The zipper on the suiter bag should be reversed so that opening the zipper would leave the zipper in the up position, and closing the zipper would leave the zipper at the end. Instead, the zipper is very much like that on your coat; i.e., when the suiter and zipper are open, you need to re-thread the zipper to close bag (I know this is really petty, but it would be a nice design change).
All-in-all, I have been pleased with the durability of the bag, the smoothness of the wheels and extending handle. I like the length of the handle as it is longer than most and I'm not kicking my bag when I'm pulling it."
My husband and I have been searching for a couple of years for the ideal large carry on bag, and when we discovered this bag we knew that we had succeeded. Beautiful, well-organized, and surprisingly lightweight given the strong frame and suit carrier. The handle glides effortlessly up and down, and the bag itself glides effortlessly along the ground. Pulling it is a pleasure. Lots of nice compartments/pockets as well."
